I only seen 4 does and a spike yesterday evening. Might get out this evening depending if my wife gets back from the doctor early enough to pick up the kids from daycare. Sunday looks real good for a all day sit and thats the plan.

I’m out now. Gonna hunt all day, saw 5 doe so far. Hunting a bedding area, just waiting and hoping for a cruiser. Might move to backside of the property for the 2nd half of the day

Well the buck in the pic came back out with his doe. Watched them for an hour never got closer than hundred yards. I knew they bedded in that thicket they were heading to in the pic. He was locked on to her. Chased a small buck off. He would have gotten shot if his doe would have just came my way. Well i’ll be back out Sunday for an all day sit.

Hey @Logman Your entry for your second buck in the score thread says the day of kill is 10/05. It should be 11/05 correct? Maybe you should correct it. Just looking out ahead of things in case they or others say something.

Hitting it hard tomorrow and Sunday. I’ll have my boys with me some of the time so not sure that I’ll shoot anything, but looking forward to it!

Picked up my brothers rack from the taxidermist. Just keeps getting bigger. Re-scored it off the skull just to double check and pretty much got the same thing. 185 1/8” monster! Let’s put some more down fellas!

Good sit tonight in NY, real windy though. Seen 4 deer. 2 fawns 39 yards behind me. Everything else was 90 + yards.

I’ll be back out in the am

This is the story of my second buck.

The wind was perfect for a new stand HuntinKB51 (my dad) and I put up a few days before. I parked and was getting everything ready to walk to the stand.... only to find out that my boots that I thought were in the bed of my truck were not there. Dummy me for not double checking. So I call HuntinKB51 and ask if he thought I could fit into any of his boots even though my feet are bigger, as I thought my feet might get a little chilly hunting in my camo crocs lol Thankfully and luckily that he lives close by, he brought is boots out to me and they fit. His exact words were, "the next time you call me better be after you shoot the big boy!" I replied with a "yep." And he heads home.

I headed over the hill of the cut corn field to sit for the first time in this new stand. I get strapped in the stand. I texted the loved ones that I'm up the stand safely. And pay on the LFTS thread that I'm up.

I wasn't really expecting much movement until the last 45 minutes of shooting time which would be 1630-1715. Boy was I wrong. I think I was on the stand for around 45 minutes. It's around 1500. I hear 2 branches break one after the other and all of a sudden out pops a buck smack dab in front of me through the thick brush. And he's a shooter. Biggest deer I've seen in person while hunting. Probably around 140-145 inch ten pointer. We're talking around 10 yards! He looks right at me. I can't move. My bow wasn't in hand. It's on the bow hanger. We stared at each other for what seemed like 5 minutes, but was probably more like 2 minutes. During the staredown I heard a ruckus of breaking branches and sounded like something big coming from behind me and getting louder.

This buck keeps looking at me and then to where the noise came from. Back and forth. And then he took off. I slowly turned my head about 45 degrees to where the sound behind my was and I catch movement. I can't believe it. Another shooter buck coming right at me looking in my direction but also looking for that first buck. Again I can't grab my bow because he's walking and looking right at me and stops about 12 yards away. I get a better look at him. He's the #1 on our hit list! A buck we have one set of 4 pictures of. I called him Big Hoss because his body looked as big as a horse on the trail cam pictures.

He proceeds to walk behind me from my left to my right. I grab my bow while he's behind me in the thick brush and stand up. I position myself for where I think I might get a shot of he comes back towards me. I grunt at him and he is coming right back to me! Here we go. I'm going to get a shot at him at less than 15 yards. All I need him to do is keep walking and it'll be a done deal. I'm up and ready. AND he stops at the most inconvenient time. Behind a large bush/scrub tree. All I can see are his head and antlers. No shot.

He walks back towards where he originally came from behind me. I turn around and position myself on the other side of the tree. He stays in the thick stuff and just looks around for probably 5 minutes. I can only see the tips of antlers and a little brown on the top of his back. I see a circle about 6-8 inches that I might be able to shoot through. I mull it over in my head again and again. Can I? Can't I? Should I?

I decide I'm going to shoot if he takes 2 more steps and puts his vitals in that circle. About 2 minutes later he took those 2 steps. I took the shot. I heard the thwack of the bolt going through the chest cavity. He runs 15 yards and jumps straight over the neighbors fence and up a burm that is probably 15 feet tall and goes out of sight. I hear a loud crash and then quiet.

I then made that phone call to HuntinKB51 and said that I think I just shot Big Hoss! He meets me at the truck and we call the neighbor. He meets us and we go onto the other property. There he was about 15 yards from the top of that burm.

I simply can't believe it. Before this season my biggest buck ever was 113 inches. Then 2 weeks ago I kill my then biggest buck of my life at 132 6/8. Now I'm staring at the single biggest buck I've ever seen. On camera or in real life.

This season has been the craziest and blessed season of my life. This was only my 4th sit. My first sit I had my one 9 year old son with me and we didn't see anything. My 2nd sit I shot my first buck. 3rd sit i didn't see anything and got down early to grab my sons to help track HuntinKB51's doe.

This was my 4th sit. I only saw 3 deer this season. 3 bucks. And each one got bigger! Pure nonsense. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would ever shoot a buck that would score 168 4/8. I'm feeling very blessed.

Thank you for all of the congratulations. This forum is a great group of hunters. And I'm proud to be a part of it!

A HUGE thank you to HuntinKB51 (dad) for the boots lol and for all of the help!! Now it's your turn!

Sorry for the long post, but I think he's worth the story. 20251105_162956.jpeg 20251105_174544.jpeg Messenger_creation_4C5FA5E5-C157-461A-8288-E5CCC0CA8DD4.jpeg Collage_2025-11-06_21_29_09.jpeg

Just smoked a doe! Heard her crash just in the wood line. Gonna keep hunting for another two hours. Had two different groups of bucks fighting this morning just couldn’t tell what they were cause it was still dark.
