I'm getting my Concealed Weapons permit next week....

I went to Sportsmans Warehouse to look at pistols and get some ammo.

THey basically have neither. The only pistol ammo was.41 Magnum (damn, I sold my .41 magnum a while back to get a .44 cause I thought ammo would be easier to find)

This is not one that is closing...The guy at the counter said since the inaguration they can't keep weapons or ammo in stock..."people are buying like they expect an all out shooting war."

A friend of mine says one of his associates and a non hunter is buying $1000 dollars worth of ammo every month....

We are in a wierd time.

Yea I've heard all kinds of reasons for the "shortage".
Mass stock ups by panicked people seems to be the most common reason.
Raw materials too difficult to find.
Banks not lending money to manufacturers to allow them to make more ammo.
The war in Traq has exhausted all our supplies.

    NOt sure which to believe.

That's certainly not it. Especially considering that they don't shoot .340 Wby, .375 H&H, or even .30-06 in the military currently. I might believe it for .223, .40 S&W, .300 Win or the .50 BMG but it doesn't explain everything else.

Primers are scarce as hens teeth so I'm guessing it's a hoarding issue to protect against new regulations from the current administration.

When you have non hunters buying a grand worth of ammo every month.......not only is he not a hunter he is not a shooter....gun nut, survivalist...he is a upper management guy that bought some weapons to keep in his house and is stocking up on ammo.....and what he is doing isn't rare...

    Something is weird.

Yep, the shortage is everywhere right now. I managed to find and buy myself 1,000 rounds of tactical 5.56 FMJ ammo this week to feed my AR-15, and to be honest......I'm not even gonna dip into this stash. I'll likely sit on it so that I have it and will try and stick with just shooting the higher end varmint match grade stuff I've got for now. This way I'll always have that other ammo just in case something happens.

The new administration has put a fear into our population that is causing the hording to happen. Just this week, the DOD stated that they will begin to mutilate all once fired military brass instead of cycling it through to the civilian market, this would have likely raised the already ridiculous prices 2-3 times if no more remanufactured brass was available for military calibers. Due to a tremendous response, they rescinded the decision only a few days later, but I think this is a huge warning sign of what may be to come in the near future. Below is more info on this and what happened........

    http://www.theshootist.net/2009/03/dod-ends-sale-of-expended-military.html

I'm currently looking over the internet right now trying to find myself a few thousand more rounds for reasonable prices to be honest, if I can get it........I'll just sit on it and will always have it. Tough to tell what is going to happen in the future with this administration but its pretty clear what their intentions are. The first step is to disarm them..............

I was kidding. sry. The funniest thing happend today. I went there too, only it was one of the closing ones. For as long as I can remember, they had this (1) box of ammo for my dad's rifle. I was going to see how much they had it for...nope. I was pretty sure that nobody else had this rifle. not in MN any way. It is slight overkill for anything we may need to kill here. lol.
But that box was there for ever. everytime I saw it, the dust just kept getting thicker and thicker on it. But it was gone today. There was even a little box mark in dust on the rack.

In case you are wondering, the ammo was for the Rem. 8MM. Mag.
Like I said, its deff. overkill for MN animals.

People are afraid the US is going to be China owned and turn into a third world country where there are nothing but thugs roaming the streets and taking from the "haves." People are scared and are stocking up. Liberals running the country doesn't help things either. I hear this all day at work. [SIGH]
