    i just put 14 of these things in a tree to set my hang-on stand.this was a brutal experience.what am i doing wrong? i started at the bottom and placed them at knee length up the tree by the time i got them in i was spent.ill have to go back another time to put the stand up.im seriously thinking my climber was much more easier.should i predrill holes?any help will be much appricated.

    Are you using a Ameristep crank handle type installation tool? If not you need one your arms will thank you for it. You can also try pre drilling the hole.

    they makedrill tips that will screw the step in for you .. much easier

    Walk along R/R tracks there are all the tree steps u want laying all over the place.get a 5 LB hammer and put a sharp point on said spikes with a grinder.They will stay there till the tree falls over.No one will steal them either!!!!! F*^K that Chinese junk....

    thanks , bought one of those tools.but when i installed them i didnt have a cordless drill.NOW I DO!

    Get sticks.....use the screw in steps to hang stuff on around your stand.

    What he said. For about 1/4 the effort you can put the sticks and the stand up. I have the Summit sticks and LOVE THEM!! Don't know why I waited so long to get them.

    i looked at the sticks but you have to take so many of them to get up the tree.6 to get twenty feet?

    big game(i think) ladders are 20ft with 4 sections i buy 5 sets and make 4 25ft sets out of the 5 or even higher

    I just bring a drill and a drill hanger that fits on my belt and pre drill the holes

    Take a look at the Treehopper drill bit and steps. Once you use it you will never go back to screw in steps.

    Next time you go to purchase a tree climbing device... get some climbing sticks...Lone wolf sells a set of 3 32" 3 step sticks for $140...you'll want a couple more though to get up to a good height...wouldn't hurt to get two sets. They take 10 seconds to strap onto the tree leaving you plenty of time and energy to hang your stand and then some! A little expensive but, well worth the saved time and effort and it makes the process a hell of a lot more enjoyable!
