I also wish that each bill would be introduced individually and never had a bunch of attachments added on.
How about we take the Starship Troopers approach of "Service Guarantees Citizenship"? I like that movie for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is its idea that citizenship is earned and not conferred by birth. As a non-citizen, should you choose that path, you would still be able to live, work and pursue your dreams here, but you have no right to have a say in the decisions that shape the country until you've earned that right. "Would you like to know more?" :D
So, now we're at, to vote: 1. Must be living; 2. Must be a US Citizen and prove it with identification; 3. Must not be declared mentally unstable; 4. Must have a 1040 showing they paid federal taxes; 5. Must pass a drug test for all illegal drugs; 6. Must show they have no other mind affecting drugs in their system or show the prescription for the ones in their system; 7. Must be certified to vote; and 7. Let's take it a step further and say they have to pass a breathalizer test at the polling place too. 8. Must be republican. 9. Must be from Iowa. 10. Must be from rural area. 11. Must be white male. 12. Must own property.
I wonder what it would cost us to implement this program? I thought Replicans were against more government regulation? My father is a county commisioner in MN. He told me the other day that if a law passes which requires that county to I.D. voters it will cost the county around $300,000 to implement. That is just ONE county in America....all for nothing more than playing politics rather than any significant evidence of INPERSON voter fraud in this country
Pay attention, Cooter. Republicans are only against more government spending if it doesn't benefit them.
Why does it cost so much to verify an ID? I believe most of the people running our polling stations are volunteers
Good question. This artical regarding a different MN county will answer your question. It would cost this county 1.25 million to implement a I.D. verification system. http://www.twincities.com/stpaul/ci...rd-votes-oppose-amendment?source=most_emailed

"that if a law passes which requires that county to I.D. voters it will cost the county around $300,000 to implement." - To this I'd have to pretend I was Missouri and say "show me!" For a poll worker to take a photo ID from a voter, check it against the printout to see that they match and to make sure the picture and the person standing in front of them would cost the county anything to implement sounds a wee bit far fetched.
Crap I don't own an IPhone or a Mathews hope you guys vote in a way I don't have to work and receive lots of free handouts I mean I'm capable of work I just don't want to
