    imho I believe only people that pay federal taxes should be able to vote. Thats not only the ones that after exemptions, deductions, etc. and still payed. Its those that pay into it even if they receive a return. After all that return is how much extra they had paid in so they still had a percentage go to federal income taxes.

    Do I feel if those with certain entitlements would eventually be pushed out no but obviously they are going to vote in a way that gives them the most money or care by doing nothing. Now I understand there are many people that can't work and need care and those people I have now problem helping out I just feel its being abused by way to many.

    I also believe anyone on welfare should have to pass a drug test monthly

    I do not. The poor democrats, and let's be honest here, we are talking about poor blacks, do not vote in high numbers. Democrats win with a strong white liberal vote in major urban areas, and because they often win the independent vote.

    Half the people in America couldn't pass a drug test, I would rather they stay home stoned than working on the busses my kids ride.

    Yep, do you think without the gun, abortion and "god" issues which the GOP owns they would ever elect a president?

    yes

    none of those issues are big ticket items, and honestly, the abortion and "god" issues hurt the GOP more than anything. Most independents side with the Democrats with those issues.

    If I remember correctly GE did not pay taxes at some point and I am willing to bet they get federal subsidies of some sort. Anyway, if there is a penalty for getting government assistance then any entity, not just citizens, should be penalized.

    I guess I should specify that it would only be for illegal drugs not counting against those on legal perscriptions although I don't think some of them should be driving buses or be around children

    Why should I have to pass a drug test to get a job and they don't have to and recieve money I work for? If it came down to having no job and needing money I would have no problem flipping burgers, pushing carts at wal mart, etc. just so that I knew I earned what I received.

    If most of these people had pride or self esteem they wouldn't be working the system at all.
    For many its a life style choice, no pressure to perform, no discipline to achieve, no sweat making house payments or paying insurance bills.
    Most come from single parents with no father figure in the picture so the choice is an easy one to make.
    That being said, half of my students couldn't pass a drug test either!

    ask the most ignorant, redneck you can find what the most important issue is for them, and I guarantee it would not be one of the 3 you listed

    I would propose a different set of criteria. I would propose that you must become a certified voter, which means you would have to have passed a class that involved education on our government system. You would have to pass the test to become certified. I'm not talking a rocket science test here, just a basic understanding of government and how it works. I had to pass a test to hunt, I had to pass a test to drive, I would have to pass a test to enlist in the military. There is already a precedence for this type of system. I have to take a class/test to make sure that I can safely hunt, I also think I should have to take a class that shows I can safely vote:lol:

    I like that idea but I imagine the political parties would corrupt the classes into propaganda mills.

    So, now we're at, to vote:
    1. Must be living;
    2. Must be a US Citizen and prove it with identification;
    3. Must not be declared mentally unstable;
    4. Must have a 1040 showing they paid federal taxes;
    5. Must pass a drug test for all illegal drugs;
    6. Must show they have no other mind affecting drugs in their system or show the prescription for the ones in their system;
    7. Must be certified to vote; and
    7. Let's take it a step further and say they have to pass a breathalizer test at the polling place too.

    Is that everything?

    The real question is does either party put forth a candidate that represents what is really important to you?
