I dont drink alcohol and I sure would not do it while deer hunting and I sure as heck would not do while in a tree. Bad Idea and represents bowhunters in a bad way.

I was gun hunting with some friends 20 or so years ago, it was opening morning and we had done a few drives and we were back at the trucks taking a short break. I had an empty windsor traveler bottle that I filled with water in my truck behind the seat, I pulled that out opened the bottle and took a 4 chug pull off it, followed by another. I thru the bottle back in the truck and said let's hunt. The looks on their faces was priceless.

I have an inlaw who takes a cooler with him to his tree "house" during rifle season. His wife usually goes, too (no weapon) - and between the two they down a whole cooler. Yep, alcoholics at their finest. Hoping this year may change as he had a recent scare by doctors.

As for me, nope, never. It's illegal. And even if it wasn't - I cannot drink ANY kind of drink without having to go to the bathroom in about an hour.

I think admitting to taken alcohol with you to a stand while hunting is really something the anti-hunting crowd would really grab onto. I'm not for or against it but I doubt any one of us would like to give anti organizations more reasons to turn others onto us hunters. Just think of the implications and accusations that could happen. Just my two cents.

Sota, I agree with you on throwing a few back after a long hard work week, but drinking and hunting? Boating?? I guess living here in NY where I have more people on my street than a lot of you guys and gals have in your entire towns, I just find it hard to do that. Just my opinion brother, but again, to each his or her own!!

I was wondering myself if this was a Hilary ammo can that needed to be refilled. But then the thought of why Hilary would even own an ammo can.

Once I get the electricity trenched to the stand, I will just keep a keg chilled all season. Just in case.

Here in Minnesota if you are caught boating while intoxicated it is the same as driving while intoxicated, you lose your drivers license. Not something to mess with you have to keep count of what you are drinking.

I just wouldn't want hunters to get the reputation of going out in the stands under the influence. What if someone was injured or killed under the influence? The media has a way of exaggerating and fabricating. I mean think of Cecil the Lion! Not saying right and wrong because everyone has their own opinion. Just a precaution that's all.

I was told years ago to:

Treat every gun hunter as he's loaded!

Maybe it should be every hunter????????

By reading every post it seems not most of us. Just a few. Lots more in the cemetery.

Theres few things better than a victory beer after a hunt, successful or not, I wouldnt want to waste those beers in a tree. not to mention the likelihood of the extra noise it'll make.

Ever hear of cabrewing? No motors no problem.... I mean you might drown, but you won't get cited for operating under the influence. Give and take right.

Is this even for real? Sounds like you have a problem? You like drinking better than hunting?
Any night all summer you can watch the sunset w a beer in hand. Not on stand. In most states I hunt it's even illegal n violates all safety rules n diminishes respect for the sport imo.
Wow, Id never hunt w you

    Neah...

I've only got a couple of weeks to hunt every year, and I want to enjoy it fully.

I save the beer for when the moose is down and gutted .

And I enjoy the odd Rum for a night cap in the cabin.
