wow here in Hawaii I have been paid to kill hogs for people. Well there is definitely gonna be a lot more hogs without people hunting them do they even have any natural predators in Tenn? I know here the only population check is hunting and it still only puts a dent in them.

Sounds like they did away with hunting hogs on public land.

Yep. Not only that, but reading on it says that even if I own land I can only use 10 people per year to help eradicate them and those 10 people have to be registered with TWRA. It not only stops hog hunting on public land; it eliminates hog hunting on private land unless you are one of the ten registered helpers of a landowner.

It seems to me like a senseless approach to controlling their spread. In fact, it seems like it's no approach at all.

Ok I pulled up the TN regs and here is the first item on the "What's New for 2011-2012" page.

I use to hunt TN regularly, but its been a couple of seasons now. So I haven't been keeping up with TN like I use to.

I agree with you. In GA we have no closed season on hogs. We can hunt them year round on private land.

    Same here in Florida.

Their population can get out of hand real fast. Ask Texas.

Yes it most certainly was. I would like to see some reports to support their descision making process on this one.

limiting it to private land owners only will not control the population. i think they should open it to public lands as well as private becaue hogs are not stupid. they will learn where to go and where not to go.

Everyplace else says Kill em All, but it looks like TN has a better idea. Maybe they can just ask them to stop fornicating?!?! that should work.

This smells likes some liberal tree-hugging hogwash if you ask me or at least some kind of weird political thing. Anybody who knows anything about hogs, knows that there's no way you can let them go without any real population control measures. Not only that, but how much revenue are they losing from removing a prevalent game animal?

You can also kill them on public land during small game season and any big game hunt. they destroy property.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

It's still hard to wrap my mind around this statment from the regs and the fact that it's now illegal to shoot one if I encounter one.
