Am I crazy...?

I have had this guy on cam last three years...Had a oppritunity to shoot him Friday night at 15 yards! I PASSED! I have some other deer (bigger) in mind and believe this guy has more in him! I also love to see what the Rut brings! Now am I crazy?

 

Early in the season...if you have a lot of time to hunt yet, and other bucks (bigger yet) to look for? NOt crazy IMO.

I don't know that I could pass on him, even if there are bigger deer in the area. But I guess it depends on how many deer are bigger and how much bigger they are than this guy.

 

yes you are crazy. Unless you shoot high caliber bucks every year with little reason to think otherwise.

I have killed three bucks off this property that all gross 150 or bigger in the last four years...thats why I think this way...I am by no means trying to say he isnt a fine buck I just think that he may have a little more in him and I was close to shooting him trust me. just like to get your guys opinions

 

I probably would have passed him, too. I'm in the exact same boat as you, but in the last 3 years. Sucks living in Kansas...

 

I can't even get a deer like that on camera! You should do what you want not what others think you should do. I would shoot it but I don't see many deer of that quality.

 

Your not crazy, but only because you hunt Kansas and only get 1 buck tag. One of the rules I have set for myself, at least to this point, is to pass on everything smaller than what I have already shot. That's pretty easy to do since my largest buck is about 120". My only exception would be for a very old/mature buck, then I really wouldn't care that much about inches.

 

He looks like he'll bloom into a nice 10 point next year. Let 'em grow- shoot a doe.

 

Seems like you are just bragging. I know people who have hunted their whole lives and only shot one or two deer in that ballpark.

 

Everyone has to have their own ideas of what they wish to shoot. Personally I would shoot him...but I have not shot 3 in the 150 mark either. I haven't even shot 1 that big.

He's a shooter! I can understand not wanting to end your season so quickly though. BUT then again that's why your out there..... I dunno, good luck man!

 

In your situation I would have probably done the same thing. That's a nice buck. Around here he would not have gotten a pass.

 

Wow Thats a great buck! How old would you say he is and what do you say he scores? Then if you pass on that guy you must have a cupple giants figured out good luck!

 

Well if you really are "Goin4-200" I guess you would have to. Now way on earth I would have but in your situation I could understand. Good luck to you. Hope you get a chance at another big boy!
