Well my Saturday morning is set. I may get the opportunity to sit Friday evening ; however I don't have the best track record for seeing deer in the evenings on my ground.

Plus I'm planning on holding a poker night Friday night. But not to late I gotta get up real early to set up in the dark for the 1st time

So I slipped out after work last night for a short sit in a funnel between a bean field and corn field..

Had a great wind for this stand, and the breezy conditions were a constant 12 mph. Sitting on the edge of a incoming front usually produces. Well at exactly 6:15 the sky fell on me! Got my rear end soaked as I sat there in the down pour! Rain wasn't suppose to hit till after dark, so I decided at the last minute not to carry my rain suit along.

Luckily I had a a change of clothes in the truck to change into for the ride home.

I was in the middle of changing clothes when I had a nice 135 inch or so 9 point walk out of the corn 50 yards away and stare at me ...

There is a reason I use the nick name Bone Head.. this is just another example of why it fits so well!

So my brother in law joined me for the last few days, it was 50/50, on which blind to sit I chose the ammunition trailer he chose the cocktail blind , he had a nice doe, but passed, I had right at dark one come behind give me a blow and walk off, as if to say, " "really" try again tomorrow."

Who's going to be the first one to put up points for us? I'll be sitting in my blind for about 11-12 hours on saturday. I know there is a lot of activity in the morning where i'll be. I see fresh tracks of all sizes every time i go out there. Makes me think they are moving mostly at night but with the moon phase the way it is this weekend, i bet if i get out there before sunrise i'll be able to catch them crossing through in the mid morning. I saw a spike crossing in this same spot on opening day at around 9am so i'm hopeing more will keep up that same pattern. Happy hunting everyone.

Going to try again Friday evening after work. If the ESE wind holds I will be in a double ladder watching the river crossing..

Plenty of time guys to rack up some points.. It is just going to keep getting better the longer it goes..

So tonight was dedicated to taking the wife on an warm evening hunt. Had 4 does come through an at 12 Yards she missed! The Lord had a plan for that doe and I won't argue the point. Some special satisfaction goes along with this hunt in that she had not seen a deer so far this year and I was setting with her when she got to get the rush we all crave... The deal is we can't kill them all, and a case of the shakes doesn't make it any easier!!!

I screwed the pouch I think. I had to exit through my woods instead of the short cut through neighbor corn field. He was cutting corn. I reached my 2 man stand and was greeted with several blows. There were fresh scrapes all over the place so I'm pretty sure it was a buck raping my hunting season. Hopefully, it wasn't but I'm down hearted now and will smell like a brewery in the morning. Good news is they cut all the corn and so the field should be full of life tonight/ morning

On a good note I still have a week in half of PTO left even after taking 2 weeks in July for Our 10Year wedding Hawaii anniversary. I'll almost got a huge stag with our mustang convertible and it had a huge rack.

Only saw a spike. Low temp this morning was only 65, so not surprised. I'm going to try to go out tomorrow morning. Anyone have any luck?

I heard quite a bit of weezing earlier but I know there are other hunters in that direction. I think one of them got busted. Been a quiet sit other then that.

Nice! I was thinking of going out too, but the Hogs are on! Hoping to see some more tomorrow even thought it'll be a high of 87 tomorrow... It's just not right.
