A) I wasnt the hunter. B) Hoyt Katera @ 60lbs. Rage Hyperdermics. 20 yard shot. Ill give an update on what we found after discussion. I want to hear what you guys think. And for our facebook followers, no spoilers.
Shot looked a touch high due to the buck dropping. Not as much penetration as the hunter probably would have liked but otherwise looked fine. Not sure what else there is to discuss. I didn't see the raccoon until after the buck ran off so that was a little interesting.
Looks a little high but should b a nice dead deer. I do like the coon tho wondering were everyone went lol
Looks like a pretty steep angle which to me looks like a pretty darn good shot when I paused it a few times to see where the arrow actually hit the buck With enough penetration its a dead buck running. Penetration sucked big time. Probably not enough IMO and that buck will live once the arrow breaks off.
Looks to be a decent spot to hit until the buck lunges forward causing the bucks shoulder blade to cover up the entrance. I'd say one lung high with 5" penetration?
Got unlucky and hit a rib? Rage couldn't handle it and probably stopped dead and broke blades? It's gonna be a difficult blood trail but it would probably go down within a couple hundred yards, but I'd wait 10 hours at least Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The video is clear and decent quality. I like the idea that you did a slow motion of the shot too. The coon's reaction is priceless. So many captions you could add to that. I do have a few questions? 1. Was the buck found? 2. Why 2 trail cameras?
Ill answer buck found after a bit. One camera was on picture, one on video. Would have been sweet...but i had it too high up and it missed the shot. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I would guess one lung and high, sparse blood trail. Hope you waited on the recovery. My guess the is the buck will be dead eventually, but it will take grid searching and/or vultures to find it. What's the prize if we guess right?
Nice buck for daylight on a corn pile. Not happy with hit, penetration looks crappy. I would be very happy to recover that deer.
It's a high shot, clipped the top of the spine but didn't get his spinal cord and went through the back straps. Very similar to where I shot my buck this year, only I got lucky and he dropped right there. My guess is muscle blood everywhere, a trail that looks like it was sprayed with a hose.........and at 150-200 yards it slowed to a trickle and then disappeared. No beds, but maybe a couple spots he stopped walking and had saucer sized blood spots accumulate.
Definitely dont think it hit the spine, but that is some poor penetration, cant picture it being a dead deer unless the BH did some real damage inside after it broke off. But the shot doesnt look "bad" to me. I hope its down and recovered.
a bit high, offside shoulder possible arrow stopper. If the rest of the arrow stayed in him he's dead. Corn is king in OH, love the coon.
Is there no broadhead on arrow after recover of arrow is stuck in leaves Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
