I have the original Droid and can't wait to get something else (new every two ends in November). I'll probably stick with Android but the original Droid needs to go.

The HTC Thunderbolt is by far and away the sweetest phone I have ever saw. The original Droid by Motorola is like an antique compared to it.

Spanks my Ipod touch as well.

Who knows what might be out by the time you renew though...

How is your battery life? That's the reason I'm leaning toward the Incredible 2. Of all of the Android phones, it seems to get the most consistent decent reviews on the battery life (that and I will never see 4G here over the next two years).

I charge it every night, on days that I use it a lot on the web I will have to throw it on the charger.

Probably 8 out of 10 days I only charge it at night.

Have a phone's battery go from full to dead in one day regardless of heavy use is very annoying. I'll stay in the stone age until they make phones that I can positively make it 24 hours between charges no matter what I do to it.

You will be there for awhile .... the stone age, I mean ... if you use a smart phone a decent amount for internet, you will have to charge it during the day ...period. No matter what phone you use

I would bet it will be a long time before you see a smartphone capable of that....

These things are busy, even when you aren't using it. They are constantly syncing with your email, weather, gps, etc etc...

It truly is amazing what todays phones are capable of.

I've heard good things about that phone but you're right...who knows what will be available.

Doesn't anyone have jobs that they simply can't charge a phone during the day? I can, but that would be annoying IMO.

After some playing around again, I decided to go with the Incredible 2 due to size, availability of the Otterbox case, no need for 4G (since it won't be available in this area for at least two years), and one of the better battery lives of many of the current android phones. Haven't had a ton of time playing with it, but syncing my email, contacts linked with FB profiles, a few apps added, etc, everything is going well. I will be downloading tapatalk shortly as well:D

First impressions of my wife's iPhone (which she loves), is it's much easier navigation wise, and apps seem to load much quicker, but it also seems a little bare bones feature wise compared to my Incredible, so we'll see. I have 14 days to decide if this was a mistake:D

If one is at work, how would they have time to play with their phone to necessitate a charging?

Exactly ... when I am busy all day at work, one overnight charge will do ... but if it is slow Nd I am checking this site, FB, E-MAIL, etc ... I will need to charge her up at work or on the way home ... and wait til hunting season!

iPhone 4 has the best battery life for sure. A phone is just like any other battery operated device. The more you use it the faster it drains.

If I was forced to buy a smart phone, it'd be this most likely.

T, I agree with ya on that. If I had a smart phone to play with I guess I'd have a better excuse to use on why I suck at shooting bucks.

But seriously can you browse for say and hour and a half over 12 hour period, send some texts and still have a working phone at dark?

Yep, this was made it in my top three when I was looking. Things I didn't like about it? A sub-par processor/ram setup compared to the other two phones I was looking at, battery life was a major complaint, and there were a few people commenting on long term reliability (although all who reviewed it said it was truly durable). They make otterbox cases for many of the Android phones now, which essentially encases the phone much like the commando (water resistant, scratch, dent, dust, shock resistant). This case is impressive to say the least (I have it on my Incredible 2), and it's not going to get damaged (the phone that is).

As for battery life, there's all sorts of things you can tweak to increase battery life. Right now, I disabled "always on mobile data," and I run off my wifi instead of 3G when I'm around the house. I also disabled GPS and lowered the brightness of my screen. I'm probably also going to change the duration of my email sync as I've read that can help quite a bit as well.

If you went in fully charged, you bet ... also the colder it is outside, the more it drains on the battery ... the trick I limiting it to an hour and a half...lol .... when a hot topic comes up on BH.COM, that could be tough ;)
