I smashed my finger at work yesterday and was certain it was broken but luckily it wasn't . have any of you hurt yourself before season and mess the season up?

I rupture my right bicep tendon last year and thought for sure my season was ruined. I recovered from surgery a little quicker than expected and made the opener.

Yea, had to shoot left handed one year because of a torn rotator cuff. Since then as the year progresses toward hunting season I become more careful and go into maintenance mode. Meaning stop maxing out the weight at the gym and not increase in running speed or distance. Having said that, I tore my hamstring last January and am still recovering from that so am just doing a short distance jog now and won't try to do a real distance run until after this hunting season is over.

I got my appendix out last year a couple weeks before the season opened. The timing was bad because I had some last minute stands to hang and trail cameras to check. The appendectomy kept me sidelined for a good three weeks before I got in the woods again.

Thanks. I work for the government so I may still end up hurting my writing hand due to all the paperwork!

I didn't get hurt before the season but I had "season ending" ankle surgery right @ the beginning of the rut last year. That SUCKED!

That's crazy because my name is also Jacob and I thought I broke my trigger finger yesterday. Turned out it just got jammed really bad and is just sore now.

I smashed my hand last Friday with 800 to 1000 pounds of drywall. Thank goodness it is not broken I just can use my hand or a week to ten days. When it happened I thought there goes the season.

I used to shoot fingers when I was a teenager. 2 weeks before bow season I broke my last three fingers playing ice hockey! I spent the next week learning how to shoot with a release and never shot fingers again!

I broke my elbow pretty bad last year a few months before season. Everything rehabbed pretty well and I ended having some good hunts, shot the little buck in my avatar. Still hurts pretty bad but I'm going to use till I can't anymore.

Ruined my turkey season with a broken wrist. Then thought I was going to lose my leg after the rattlesnake bite and ruin hunting for a good while. Back up an running for season though.

I had a pretty nasty four-wheeler wreck late one summer. I was worried it would mess up my bowseason since I hurt my shoulder pretty good. It didn't though. Haven't ever had anything else happen since that about 15 years ago.
