Okay, with the temp dropping, and the snow falling, I am most likely going to be starting on the all day sits.
I was wondering... When you guys say you are hunting all day, do you literally mean ALL DAY, or do you get down, and walk around a bit to ease the mind.
Personally, at about 1030 I like to get down, and walk back to the Jeep for some coffee, and a smoke. But I have spoken to a couple of guys that say they bring stuff with them, and they stay up there all day.

I was just wondering what you do...

I did this this past weekend and really liked it. Many people mention that they see a lot of mid day action this time of year. I decided to sit 10 am til dark. I saw 3 bucks between 10:30 and 12 and saw numerous deer throughout the day. I guess the only downside is I don't know what I missed from 6 til 10 but I did get some sleep.

The only time I have ever shot a deer was in the morning. Ironically they were all (4) shot between 0830, and 0840. It works out pretty good, because this last one, my uncle and I went out, he went to his stand, I went to mine. We said we would get down at 0930 to have coffee. I got my deer, and went back to get the cart. It was gone! He had his cleaned out, and was bringing it back at the time that I got back, so I had him meet me at my stand, then I just cleaned it out, loaded it up, and we went home, and processed them. It worked great. I wish it was always that easy.
I am going out on Saturday. This should be fun. It was snowing here earlier (1hr. ago) there is some nasty weather in the making for the rest of the week. (Damn MN)

I have never actually sat in a stand all day. This time of year I do alot morning sits, go home for some food and a short nap, then head back out pretty early in the afternoon.

About once or twice per season I will do an all day sit, but it is brutal! Most of the time I only sit until 11 or so and get back in my stand at 2:30. When I do sit all day I bring lots of food, hot tea (less aroma than coffee) and a urine bottle. I will do some texting as well. Whether I sit all day or not is usually dependent on if the rut is going strong and I'm seeing deer movement. Also, if I'm sitting in a stand where I can see for more than 25 yards or so around me it makes it much easier to sit longer!

All day when I decide to do my long sits during the rut. Reason being, less going In and out showing your presence visually and also by scent.

Like boonedog, I only do it a couple of times a season because it's so brutal. When I do it, I normally stay in the tree until about 10:30-11:00, get down, get something to eat, and try to get back in the stand by noon. I guess that's not really ALL day, but it's pretty close. I'm just not mentally tough enough to stay there with out getting down.
