All BS aside, be candid; how important is it for you to kill a big whitetail and why?

Reading what you guys have said only makes me realize how far into this obsession i want to get. Quick i would love to be in your shoes some day. I can only imagine hunting deer of a MONSTER caliber. But in my current stage in my life I have to say taking a BIG buck is not a priority left alone even a possibility right now.

Last season i finally got my hunting license after the rut. Before the season i knew i would be hunting but didn't know what being a "hunter" meant. I just walked into the woods were i had seen tracks sat down and called it hunting. This year i have scouted somewhat, not as much as i should have and i know it. I planted a food plot to try and draw as many deer from my area into the small 8 acres i am allowed to hunt on. I have gotten pictures of a few bucks a few does and 3 fawn. My priority this year is to take my first deer with a bow let alone in my life. When i manage that i will be happy for this season.

It won't be until after i am Married (October 29) that i will truly be able to start putting time and more effort into a season. I didn't realize how much time and effort would be put into planning a wedding. Plus i have changed majors and colleges which didn't help with the time i thought i had allotted to scouting and prepping for the season.

I have high hopes for myself this season and i can only dream of achieving my goal. I wish all of you the best luck in achieving what you have set as your goals for this season as well.

Killing a big whitetail buck is not important to me. Although this seasons contest motivates me to score some points for my team. I place importance in having the opportunity to be in the woods and make the best out of each hunt. I feel blessed with any deer I take. I welcome each new day and with each whitetail encounter I make the decision to pass or to let my arrow fly. I'm also driven by my love of venison.

Hunting for me is relaxation at its best. My goal is to get outside and enjoy God's creation, and put a little meat in the freezer. A big buck is just the cherry on top. I put in the time to scout and I definitely hope to get monster, but I would still be out there if I knew I didnt have a chance at antlers.

shooting a "big buck"? nope not super important to me although i would really love to connect on 1 its not the main reason im a bowhunter. I consider myself a "deer hunter" not a "trophy hunter" I go out to provide food for my table. If i only shot big bucks i would starve to death lol. I am ver serious about my hunting and my shot placement. if i make a great shot on a doe, that makes me just as happy as harvesting a buck :woot: but thats just me

It's important to me at least. I can shoot enough does to fill the freezer so a buck isn't much a factor for purely meat. I personally enjoy hunting mature deer and the chess match or waiting game. I've taken enough so it's hard for me to shoot a buck not at or at least close to his full potential. although I do not judge anyone else for their choices.
