Been hunting my land these past few days pretty hard. Had four encounters with bucks (three 8's and a 9 that had lost a tine). Moved my climber much close to their trail and off the food source because they aren't moving to it. Had all of them pass about 60 yards from me so I scooted right by the trail. Got a funny pic of a doe today, but just wondering if anyone down south is having any luck rattling or using scents this time of year? Been playing the waiting game by their routes but wondering if I can change my game up and bring one in. -Jordan
To tell the truth Blue, I don't even think about starting to use that until about the middle of January, may be different for N Alabama. I have not had the time to spend in the woods this year that I normally do but I have not seen any scrapes so far.
That's crazy because I watched one last night destroy a sapling and walk another bit and start scraping the ground hard.
I haven't had the chance to get out in the woods lately but I'm headed out possibly this afternoon if the rain stops and plan on hunting Friday and Saturday as well, so hopefully I see some action! Weather has been pretty warm still down here in Lower Alabama but it has been cooling off now which feels a lot better than sweating my *** off~
Starting to see a lot of scrapes in the woods in the last couple of weeks. Also, ive seen some small buck chasing does. No bigguns yet though. As far as scents and calling, no luck for me with either this year yet.
