Hi everyone. I could use some help learning how to determine a deer's age.I'm sure this has been covered here ,but if someone can come up with a link or recommend a book I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks Jim

I have heard things like if they have a flat line on there back and belly they are most likely young and if they have a sway and sagging belly they are most likely mature.

The only for sure ways to know how old a deer is, is to either recognize that deer each year and keep track or to use the jawbone. Obviously the jawbone requires you to harvest the deer. Other than that, you can look at their belly, back, antlers... etc. It just takes time and generally you come to the conclusion that the deer is either "x" or "y" years old.
