This buck lives on my father-in-laws place. I tried to get my son on him last year with no luck, ... He vanished in mid Oct last year...I thought someone had killed him...then he showed back up in mid Dec. This buck is much different than what I'm use to seeing on the big public lands. He's a farm buck and built like a horse, last year he would have dressed well over 200#. Like Matts buck, this buck was born here...he leaves for the rut each year but always comes back home.
I would say he is at least a 4 year old deer. His muscle structure is beyond that of a juvenile buck. Whether he is a 4 or 6 year old deer, that I do not know.
Good job everyone...the buck was 4 1/2 last year... In "07" he never dispersed and as far as we know he didnt participate in the rut that year. In "08" he ran with a bachelor group until they broke up...he disappeared in Sept. and didnt show back up until Jan. In "09" he was not seen in the month Nov. In "10" he left mid Oct. and came back in mid Dec. I'm sure he want get a free pass from anyone this year....I havent set up any trail cam's but I've seen him a couple times. Hes about the same size as last year with a little better brows and a 5-6 inch drop tine off his right main beam.
Yes, I'm afraid he will leave before the youth season....so I bought my son a crossbow this year. We all have are fingers crossed. One of my father-in-laws neighbor was talking about a drop tine buck he had been getting pic's of on his feeder.
The muscle structure Is definitely there unlike 3.5 year olds that I've saw around my area. I was going to say no younger then 4.5 years old, probably 5.5. Great buck Josh!
