Can someone give me a guess on the age of this buck ?

This photo was taken about 100yards from the photo I had was inquiring about before. I know there are bigger racked bucks back here, but I would love to kill a really old deer above a heavy racked one, any day.

    Thanks in advance,

    Andrew

I'd say a 4 year old, possibly older. Just curious, why did you black out the rack?

I was thinking 4 or 5. Some other bucks that I am nearly certain are 3.5yo dont have this big of body. Who knows....

I blacked out the rack for a few reason.

Reason 1, and most importantly- I live in an area full of poachers, trespassers and people that will do anything to jack a nice deer. If I put the rack and someone recognized him, my stands and cameras would eventually disappear because people would know for sure that there is hunting gear in those woods, and, these cameras belong to my brother, so he would murder me.

Reason 2- as to not sway an opinion one way or another.

My guess is he didn't want the rack to effect the guesses.

Edit: DrawofBackward answered right before me.

Is this an agricultural ground buck or big woods deer?

I was waiting for this question !

Mostly big woods deer. He lives right in the middle of about 800acres of overgrown fields and deeper woods. There are a few smaller crop fields in the area but this deer mostly lives on natural forage and such as the heavy agricultural region is a few miles away.

With this being said, I would not be surprised if he was a 4 year old then. But still think he could easily be a tank of a 3.5 ... Great looking deer either way.

He just looks older than 3.5 to me with how big his hind end and shoulders are.

    I am thinking 4.5-5.5

I will say that he is 5.5 and thats a guess cuz he almost looks like he is swelling up a bit for the rut. With all do respect I would not worry so much about posting pictures of the rack. We would have a better idea of age if we could see it.
