I'm not sure if I have history with this buck or not since deer have such a large range during the rut and I'm working with 9 acres but he's definitely my target buck. Two years ago I had a nice 10 pointer on camera (my avatar picture) who was big and symmetrical and I'm not sure if this is him again or just a different buck. This is the first deer I've ever had on camera with more than 10 points. I've got him on 2 different cameras on my 9 acres, 4 days apart and getting closer to daylight hours. I'm hoping he continues his pattern which would put him back on the property on Tuesday and again next Saturday, hopefully shooting hours. Anyway, I'd like to hear opinions on his age and score.
I say 3.5 Year’s old. Doesn’t seem to have much of a belly sag. I would score him roughly in the 130s
His bases still seem small, which makes me think he's younger even though his points try to make me think otherwise. 3.5 or 4.5
He's no less than 4.5 in my opinion. He's got good muscle definition, rounded rump, neck seems to inset pretty low into the brisket. Starting to get that barrel shape, not blocky like younger bucks. Appearance of a shorter face, legs look like the appropriate length. Those all indicate to me that he's a mature buck. I'd guess him at the high 140's. I'd love to get some 12pt genetics into my herd. Just don't see them around here.
I can't decide on 3.5 or 4.5 but I guessed in the 140 range. Now for those who say he is 3.5, would you pass or shoot? I'm shooting a typical 12 pointer 100 out of 100 times, just curious to see if someone would "give him another year" or what they would do if this buck was on their property. It's crazy to me that he's 12 points yet nothing crazy on the scorecard, he's either really healthy or those genes are amazing. If I see him and he presents a shot, I will do everything in my power to end him.
Another picture of that 12 pointer we dubbed "Tom Brady". I think this deer has to be 4.5, every new picture I get he looks bigger.
Great bucks, why did you name him Tom Brady? Is it because he deflates your tires when your in the stand so you can’t come back to hunt him? Lol sorry I couldn’t resist I figure it’s bc his #. Good luck chasing him!
I believe he is no less than 4 personally. Score wise I would be shocked if he didn't tip in at over 150, just too many tines despite his mass not being tremendous it is decent. Shoot and find out brother. Shoulder definition, neck line deep into brisket and the roman nose look all make me think older than 3 without hesitation personally.
I agree with the assessment at 4 years of age. Either way, he would get an arrow from me since I have never even seen a 12 while hunting. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
He refuses to show himself during daylight hours. I'm back to weekend warrior mode and will keep after him the best I can. Also, we have another 12 pointer on camera, we named him Aaron Rodgers. He looks like a year younger for sure, the belly goes too far up at the front and back, looks to be a 3.5 in my opinion. Thoughts?
