I bought my last truck back in 2006 with intentions of keeping it until I ran it into the ground. Well, that all changed with the latest addition to our family a few weeks ago. I quickly found out that getting a kid in and out of the back of an extended cab truck pretty much sucks. Combine that with the fact my truck had 112K on the clock and needed some work (tires, brakes, trans service, front end work, etc), I decide to explore my options.

After looking around I settled on a 2012 F150 SuperCrew XLT with the 3.5L EcoBoost Turbo V6. Ford had 4K in cash incentives, the dealership game me close to 5K off sticker, and 9K on trade for my truck. I couldn't pass it up.

So far I love this thing. The Sync system is awesome, there's a TON of room inside, and I'm getting 18-19 mpg around town compared to the 13-14 I was getting out of my 5.4 V8. The truck is Tuxedo Black Metallic, which looks amazing when it's clean. Weathertech mats are on order, and I should be getting the Line-X sprayed in about two weeks from now, and either a Leer or an ARE cap before hunting season.

Yes the 4-door is key with kids. We actually just took my truck on vacation instead of the car, with the bed cover and extra room it was nice!

Looks just like mine... except mine is dark blue and I opted for the 5.0. I got the Line-X and it has paid off already. I had to buy a new freezer and the metal band on the box scraped all the way down the bed... not a scratch.

My favorite part is that there is no hump in the back and if you fold the seats up, you have an instant sleeping area. I am averaging from the mid 16s to low 20s in MPG depending on when and where I drive.

    Congrats, it looks great!

Nice ride JZ! As I said on FB, I love my truck but I really do now wish I would have gotten the Eco Boost, I was just a bit leary about it being so new but everything I've read since has been really good.

    Tuxedo Black. Sexy.

Two years from now you'll get to take the carseat out of the back seat and scrape off cheerios, froot loops, crackers, juice and everything else. Hope you got leather. I didn't.

I laughed, and then nodded in agreement.

Leather was too rich for my blood. To go up from the XLT to the Lariat trim it added 4-5K to the cost and I was already pushing the limits of what I wanted to spend. Hope the stain protector works as good as they say it does. :D

Same here. I had to get a diesel because of the trailers I pull and that alone makes trucks damn expensive. At times I wish I had it, then I think about the extra 6K it would have been to get an LTZ. No thanks.

At Autozone, 3M Scotchgard is around $7.00 per can. It takes two cans and about 15 minutes to apply and it works great. You just have to re-apply every couple months. Not sure if it works on baby barf or yesterdays peas and carrots but coffee spills wipe right up.:tu:

Jill has leather in her suburban and I took Z's seat out the other day. It was horrible. I think the seat is permanently screwed from the marks the carseat left in it. It also damn near took a sandblaster to get all the food residue off the seat.

Nice looking truck. For my next one I'll going the opposite way and go back to an extended cab. I want the longer bed back. Our kids are grown and out of the house now. I still think that the Super Crew looks the sharpest though. Does the engine have enough zip to it?

Nice looking truck! I've always been a Ford man myself.

How noticeable is the drop off in power? If I didn't have umpteen trailers/boats to pull, I'd have gone that route myself.

What kind of lift kit are you going to put on it? What about flood lights?
