okay...so I am NOT the worlds greatest fisherman, nor do i do it a lot....I'm a whitetail junkie, thats it.....BUT, I found a huge pond on one of my leases yesterday...yes I know that sounds wierd, especially since I have hunted this farm for 8 years, but there is a part that is Sooooo thick you cant walk through it, and I never have in 8 years....but this year i decided to utilize it and set about creating a food plot in the middle of it. I had seen the pond on aerial photos, so I decided to use a skidloader to blaze a trail and find it....WOW! way bigger than I thought! pond is in an old gravel pit, and is 65-70 yards across and looks to be maybe 20 feet deep....landowner said no one has fished that pond in 15 years! I couldnt help it.....took the old lady and went back today...in two hours we came back with 10 bluegill and one bass...but holy cow there are a ton of fish in there! too many I think. We saw 12-15 bass in the 4-6 lb. range, and two monstrous fish that I have no clue what they were, Im thinking muskie....long thick black bodies and big tailfins...I only had tackle for panfish so Im going back this week with some "heavier artillery"

So there was a huge pond on your lease with a a dock and what looks like plenty of open shoreline space....and you never found it? FFFAAIIILLL.

On a side note, when are you inviting me over to fish? Lets see some pond pictures!

Surely that is not your "Old" lady? She looks 15... or is it someone else? Nice story, I had an old strip mine runoff pond I discovered and used to fish when I was a kid and we would catch a lot of fish from it. Definitely lot's of fun.

Nice fish! When I was growing up I had the privilege to fish 4 different farm ponds on a couple different properties. Had some Awesome fishing lots of Largemouth, Bluegills, Perch, Warmouth, and even gold shiners. Unfortunately for me otters totally cleaned out 2 of them. I hate Otters! I still trap minnows out of one sometimes great bass and walleye bait.

Nice! Strip ponds are the best for big largemouth.

"Lovely Bride" sounds better... She goes fishing with you? You've got a gem... cherish her, my friend, good ones like her are rare.

Thats pretty cool. Pond must have been stocked a long time ago and then forgotten. Hope to see some pics of the monsters that are in there.
