I love my LW Assault, but my bow doesn't fit in the built-in bow holder. Does anyone know of an aftermarket bowholder that will attach to a LW stand? Most that I've seen are made to fit the square tubing used in construction of most stands. I just hate using screw-in bow holders. I constantly leave them in trees, or forget them in the first place. Plus on public land, you aren't supposed to screw into a tree in MN. Thanks for the help guys!
Only thing I can say is DON'T get the "wolf jaws" setup that goes on the stand, made by LW. What a piece of junk. I only use it occasionally and only sitting down when I have no chance of accidentaly bumping it. It barely holds onto the bow, not a good design at all IMHO.
In the past I used one made by Third Hand Archery and it always worked well. I still use this style when I hunt public land. I'm not 100% sure it will work on your LW stand but I think it might. I'm sure Jim can answer that question if you give him a call. http://www.thirdhandarchery.com/product.asp?PRODID=10 Anymore, I prefer the EZ Hanger (3 arm) screw in type but I understand you can't use them on public land in many states, including mine. http://www.cabelas.com/p-0004918413663a.shtml
Glad that I read this when I did. I almost picked it up a few weeks ago when I was at the bh.com office but decided I would wait. Was actually thinking of picking it up next week. Guess now I will pass on that idea!
I have an EZ hanger and the one made by HME, which I like better. I just want one less thing to carry into the woods and leave in a tree.
I don't think so. Lone Wolf stands have a thinner vertical structure, as opposed to the square tubing, so I don't think it would be very stable with that type of clamping system.
This is a good looking holder that should also fit the LW platform. I noticed that Todd doesn't sell one like it. It is an HME from Cabelas.
The HME type doesn't work on my LW Alpha. And I have the LW jaws that I'm scared of using--afraid my bow will roll out of it. The Third Hand version may work but it would need to be installed upside down from the picture due to the raised edge to the LW platform. Purchased the Hunters Specialties treestand hoist a couple of years ago. It was more of a PITA to use than lugging the treestand up the steps (I have a heavy lock-on I don't use anymore) and very noisy with the anti-reverse clicker. But the strap on L-bracket works very well as a bow/rifle holder. Wish it was a little longer but it works well anyway...
Get one of the cheap Ameristep holders that bolts to the edge of the platform. It will work. I personally don't use one, but I saw one somewhere that had this typ mounted to it and looked to be doing a good job.
The Third Hand holder can be mounted either way because the bow holder rotates 360°. It can also be bolted to a table to use as a bow holder in your work shop too.
