yesterday afternoon after shooting a doe around 230. my buddy wanted to drag the deer and gut it right away so we did that and went back to our stands. my question is, how does shooting a deer affect the other deer in the area? she was all by herself when i shot but i didnt know if other deer could smell death in the air or get a bad feeling about the area?

The fact a deer died there is irrelevant as far as affecting other deer

A larger concern might be the scent you and your buddy likely spread around the area dragging the deer out

I really wouldn't be too worried about it

I killed one of the largest bucks of my life the morning after my bro killed a buck the previous day from the same stand

I wouldn't worry about it. Deer are not spooked by blood, or dead animals. I shot a groundhog several years back, and as it lay in the middle of the clover patch with a bloody arrow sticking straight up out of its back, a few does came in. I shot a doe right as it was licking the blood off the top of the arrow. LOL

You may have spread your own scent while dragging her out, but that can't be avoided.
