I'm in the market for an affordable hang on or two that won't break the bank. I plan on leaving it out on public land so I don't want to spend a lot. I was thinking Big Game or Gorilla. Any suggestions? I would love a Lone Wolf but I don't want to spend that kind of cheddar and leave it out for someone to steal.
Treestand I have used the Field and Stream Brand from ****'s Sportting goods for 5 years now and it has held up great. Usually on sale right before season starts. Also have a Rivers Edge and Ameristep which work great also. Ameristep can get little more expensive but love the Rapid Rails. River's Edge also has a nice combo. http://www.****ssportinggoods.com/p...Id=3680012&cp=2367438.2367824.2292572.2292573
I bought 4 Field and Stream stands on sale just before 2010 season for $79.00 ea. They have a sling style seat and handrails. They are alittle heavy to move around alot, but I really like them. I like to use a real ratchet strap to lock them in solid. I'll probaly buy 2 more for next season.
Go to walmart and buy the cheapest hang-on stand, Remington boxed but I believe they are made by Ameristep. Once in a blue moon you can find them on sale for in the upper $20s. They would be perfect for what youre wanting. I grabbed 3 in the clearance isle for $60 total, got em right when they were swtiching out the old ameristep boxing for the new Remington branded boxes. The stands are still the same, nothings changed but the packaging. Plus its walmart, after 90 days you can take it back.
I ended up getting a big game stand xl for my hang on. I really liked it and it was under $100. It's very comfortable as far as a hang on goes, with a large platform and the foot rest bar, which I think makes all the difference in the world. It's quiet and seems real sturdy. The wire mesh platform is quiet and the seat that folds up or down is quiet as well. All in all, I'm happy with it. It's heavy since it's steel construction, so if your looking for an ultra portable, that might not be the one. If your looking to put it up and not move it a ton, it's great. That's what I do. The only thing I did with it is add a rachet strap around the tree and the bottom part of the stand. Made it completely solid when stepping up or down. I've also used the Rivers Edge stand equivalent to this one, and couldn't tell a difference other than the name. Hope this helps.
