Hey guys, I hung a stand at this red dot earlier in the year, and this spot is loaded with deer sign.

The open areas that you see running through the woods are gas pipelines. They're just grassy weed patches with weeds about 6-7' tall.

I've hunted it a few times this last week, and I have yet to see a deer while there. It's a rare thing for me to not see a deer on this property, I generally see anywhere from 4-10 per hunt if not more.

I've hunted it in the AMs and PMs with South and North winds.

Any ideas? Does it look like a good spot from above? I just can't figure out why I haven't seen a single deer while sitting in it.

I'd put my stand by this black dot.

    Right about here --------------------------- .

Englum, how are you accessing the spot? That may be the critical piece.

It may only be a last 1 hour of the day PM spot as the thermals drop or the first 1-2 hour of the day spot before the thermals rise.

    Just some thoughts.

If you get on that pipeline where the red dot is, and just follow that pipeline to the East towards the road, Im parking on that road and slipping in. I've only kicked up one small doe that was bedded down back there but she was a good ways away from where that stand is (closer to the field corner) and she didn't spook bad, just got up and trotted off. I don't think she saw me, just heard me crunch some leaves.

That pipeline is real easy to slip in on in the mornings, the ground is always wet and it's real quiet. The grass down there is over my head and there's a lane in there for me to walk thats a few feet wide that keeps me really quiet and hidden.

I was thinking about the rising thermals there the other morning. That hilltop that it sets on is a pretty big hill for the area.
