if i was planting that section with trees around it i would keep it simple. get 3 bags of biologic hot spot and broadcast that into that spot right before some rain. its a good mix of peas and wheat and will provide a great spring food source along with the peas as a great fall draw. just make sure you round up about 2-3 weeks before broadcasting to ensure weeds are dead and no competition for the hot spot seed. As far as fertilizer goes wheat and peas will grow in marginally bad soil so get some triple 12 and throw that down, about 40 pounds should do for that size, same time as broadcasting. hot spot is planted 45 days before first frost so try and remeber when it started to get cold and use that as your reference or use a farmers almanac.or just get a bag of winter wheat and a 4lb bag of whitetail institute clover and and broadcast them in that spot and have a great spring and summer wheat plot and than mow it down and witness a great clover plot
