Advice for finding new private land?!?!?

So maybe hunting with your dad isn't a good bonding thing. I say find your own stuff if you can and enjoy the hunting the way you want. You can still have a relationship with your dad outside of hunting. I believe being out in the woods should be a relaxing time, if your dad is out there to grocery shop then that is his deal. I don't think either person is wrong in this situation, probably best you part ways as far as the hunting aspect goes.

 

if you really want to find a place to hunt privately its not too hard, many older farmers would like to get some of the deer out of the fields, one of the things we do is to give the property owner a good chunk of the meat ( as much as he will take) usually about half a deer or less, and he just likes to see them out of his garden and into his freezer.. but you do truly need to patch things up with your dad, I had the same fight with mine early in this season over how close to his stand I set up my little brother one day even though he killed his first deer that day, its not worth it to have that type of stress on a relationship... he taught you how to hunt and in some ways he just wants you to have the same ideas he does.... Personally I don't hunt for antlers, not to say ill pass on everything smaller but if all I have left is my buck tag (either sex) and a doe comes by ill use it on her without a second thought my dad and I are the same in that way but you and yours cant afford to be fighting over something so small.. its not worth it to have this come between you
