My point was more generic in a sense... Fans always talk about how certain athletes are overpaid, undeserving, selfish, etc... I'd say if we were in their shoes, we'd see it differently. They have very short careers to look out for themselves and make as much money as possible.
My feeling of AP being selfish is that he has nobody to blame but himself for the position he is in. Most players that sign the huge multi year deals never collect the full amount. The salary cap does what it was intended to do.
Wait. Are you one of those that fell for that Stock scam and actually think you own part of the team? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Scam? There is no scam it is about supporting the franchise, I chose to spend the money, the scam would be if my tax $ paid for a new stadium.
You're funny, yes it does support a franchise but if I buy stock in a franchise it should be worth something at the end of the day. Brown County does have a .5% tax set up for the stadium.
Wasn't that in place to fund the remodel of Lambeau? I know the recent addition used no public funds. My stock is framed and on the wall in my Packer room. It is as valueable as any of the other memorabilia that I have.
You guys realize the first stock sale was in 1923 right? So this isn’t a new thing they just came up with. The buyers understand what it is. Yet, they want to do it anyway and always have. It does mean something to them. They get a little bit of access that non shareholders do not get. I’m impartial about people that buy the stock. I probably would never do it. But I 100% understand why people do.
I do believe you are wrong on the no public funds: Just because you value it doesn't mean it's worth anything
It pays no dividends, has no benefit from earnings, and isn't tradeable. In fact, it doesn't even fall under the securities and exchange. For $250 you get the opportunity to pay full price for special hats and T-shirts and know that you helped the owners become even more wealthy. Seems like a great deal.....
I think you do not understand the ownership of the Green Bay Packers. I also was never under the impression that the stock was an investment in the traditional sense of the word.
You gave $250 plus $25 handling fee to be a member of the Packers Fan Club and help keep the Packers in Green Bay and help the president of the board keep his salary. I get it. It's the ultimate honor for a cheesehead.
No, this was the owner statement I was referring to. You referred to yourself as an owner of the Packers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I do go to the owners meeting every year, I own a share. No I don't actually think I own the Packers, but the Packers are not going to tell me that I can't call myself an owner.
