I'm sorry Atlas, you are one of the "elite" few that live amongst us, and we should defer to you as we cannot possibly comprehend what a high end earner goes through in his/her life. $10,000,000 has a lot to do with it as he said it was "modern day slavery". Well slaves didn't earn any money so I think the point that he makes $10,000,000 and then says it "is modern day slavery" has a lot to with it as it is totally contradictory.

    Really???

Well I will take a stab at this....

Last time I check there is no such thing as rich slaves....they making NOTHING while being forced to work

AD makes 10 million a year to do something he chooses to do

I'm assuming that you also make a simular income to AD working around 6 months per year which is why you are taking this thread so personal??

    Sigh...............and there it is.

It has nothing to do with it..............say he was treated exactly as a slave was in the past..........would that be OK because they gave him a few million dollars??

Would slavery or the holocaust be any less horrible if the slaves and jews were paid?

But it's not that he is being paid that bothers people so much about his comment.............it that he gets paid A LOT!!

His comments that the NFL is modern day slavery are moronic on 100 different levels............I don't see how his salary is one of them. If he made $10/hr no one would care what he said and would probably agree with him..............but 10 million means he is wrong?? Weird.

The amount of money someone makes should not be an excuse to mistreat them (not that AD is being mistreated).

No..................I don't make 10 million/year. Does that mean I should hate AD because he does??..............because I don't. Good for him and anyone else who works hard and makes how ever much money they can or want.

People who make more money then me don't bother me at all.............in fact they often inspire me.

Unfortunately it is commonplace in this country to demonize those who have more then you.

You're missing the point, he signed the contract, he agreed to everything he has to do to make his money. He knew what he was getting into, and it doesn't matter if be makes ten thousand a year or ten million a year, he agreed to it. His comments almost seem to me that he wants pity, sorry, when you make as much as he does and you agreed to everything you have to do to earn it....well I have no pity for you.

    Correct.

Correct..............he is also free to leave whenever he wishes.

You say that now but it took you about 2 seconds to mention his salary in your opening post and how many times has it been mentioned since?? If it truely doesn't matter to you or others why do you keep pointing out his salary?

    Yes..............he's an idiot.

I think you're the one missing the point BM..........how can you type the above sentence right after saying it doesn't matter what he makes?

Atlas have you been wronged about how much you make?

Let me be first say congrats to you. If someone wants to pay you pile of money to do x then great.

Just be glad you're not a teacher in today's world. They are getting hammered on all fronts.

I think where the issue is with AP is he was giving a great talent and gift. To compare NFL football to one of the worst times in American history is just plane stupid. Add the fact he gets paid very well, I guess it just rubs folks the wrong way.

Congrats again on all your success.

Well, the teachers sign a contract, too.

Are we hung up on the amounts, again?

I would say some are hung up on amounts and other items. Funny how petty some sound these days. That is one of the points Atlas was making

People that make more money than me do not bother me one bit. I applaud their hard work, creativity, ingenuity, etc. If I were bothered by people that made more money than me I would be upset with nearly 60% of the population in my area! :) Maybe it is the way I type or how I say things that make what say come across weird or different to you, but you and I are pretty close in our beliefs about how poeple either need to lay down and accept their lives are one way and moan and complain, or man up and take charge of their lives. None of us are guaranteed anything or owed anything in life. We make our own lives.

Atlas I do understand your point. My point is Adrian Peterson knew what he signed up for, just like teachers and government employees. I knew what I was signing up for when I signed up to work in a juvenile jail. People call in and we have to cover at the worst times which causes us to miss family events and the like. We have to work holidays and on days noone else in the county has to work based on inclement weather. I signed up for it so I do not moan about it, it is my job. I am not going to compare it to "modern day indentured servantry". I also don't compare my wife and her hard work to "the holocaust" even though several of my wife's ancestors were executed in the German gas chambers. That would be ludicrous and offensive just like Adrian Peterson's moronic remarks.

Some jobs in this world require a tremendous amount of work hours, and an NFL player has many obligations. The players know of this prior to "signing up". They also enjoy many perks of the job which includes substantial pay.
