So what are your thoughts for hunting(Spot and stalk) using adjustable single pin sight vs fixed pins? Basically thinking of going to A HHA adjustable sight from my Deadly 7 pin spott hogg. I hunt out west where shots can be a bit further. Thanks
I think the biggest question is how far do you feel comfortable shooting at an animal. 7 pin sight should do 80 yards if their is room any more than that get a slider. I would really like to use a slider put can't come to take my 5 pin off because I don't have to take the time or the movement to range then adjust the sight. In that amount of time + the extra movement deer could be gone.
I just switched from a 5 pin to an HHA a month ago. I personally love it but headstrong I do see your concern with having to switch yardages. I have my pin set at 25 yards and use that to shoot anything +/- 10 yards (15-35) and am pretty dang accurate. Now shooting out west could be a whole different story but if you want to give the single pin a try, I say go for it and see how you like it.
I switch back and forth between the Hha and a four and five pin sight but even when I have the multi pin sight when im hunting I only use the first pin and Im good to thirty. I love the hha sight and have pretty much decided im just going to stick with that. The only reason I use an adjustable or multi pin is so I can shoot farther in practice. If I knew I would be taking longer shots that would require me to move the pin while hunting I would definitely go with the multi pin.
