What type of glue are you fletching these with? I've got a BOATload of these things hanging in my archery shop, and I just built my 4-year-old a few arras last night...

First couple shots all the vanes fall right off... I left them in the Bitz jig a LONG time, with Platinum Fletch-tite.

Suggestions? I'd like to use these for the kiddos. These are the ones with the clear bases...

Not sure. I have had absolutely perfect results fletching Norways, I love them. I clean my shafts with hot soapy water then glue vanes on using store bought super glue, have never had a problem.

How long were they int he clamp for? I know Fletch-Tite takes a while to fully cure.

Menards super glue works great for me. Cheap stuff that comes with 5 in a pack and I amazed how well it works.
My buddy told me to use Gorilla Glue but it did not work as well as the cheap stuff.

Some of the vanes I left in the clamp overnight... All were left at least an hour, and it was a full day afterwards before I handed the arrow to him to take outside and shoot.

The bases just seem really "hard" to me ... wondering if that's the problem, or its the composition of the material itself.

I've never left any vane with Platinum on it in the jig longer than 5 minutes. Something's wrong with those vanes.

^^ Agreed. I would first probably try to refletch some using a fast set glue. If that doesn't work... Send all those nasty vanes to care of me:tu:

I've got a ton of those neon ones sitting around here too, but I didn't want to use those on the kiddos' arras... yet. :)

It could be old glue? I've been using the Gorilla glue with mine for the past few years using the Bohning helix jig and the only time I've had any problems is whenever I used glue I had left over from the previous year. Bought a new bottle, no problems.

I shot Fusion vanes for a season and used the Pine Ridge Instant Arrow glue, which is basically a super glue. Fletched on my Onestringer wraps I never had a problem with the vanes coming off.

Did you try cleaning both the wrap and the base of the vane and see how that works?

As someone else mentioned if you're using old Fletch-Tite that could be the issue as well. I had several batches of arrows in my life with fletching issues due to old glue.

Of course you could just switch to Quikfletch and not have to worry about it anymore. :D

I may pick up a new tube of glue... I haven't used it for a while, as all my personal arrows obviously get feathers and I use fletching tape for those.

I'd search for the pick Rick James threw up the last time you had a Quikfletch thread with the guy with velcro shoes, but I'm sure you remember it well! :D

I'm just using a bunch of unused inventory for the kiddos I've got sitting around here ... no need to spend any money if I don't have to since I've got probably five or six hundred brand new vanes that've never been opened hanging on my shelf. Except maybe a new tube of glue. ;)

That was going to be my recommendation. I use Goat Tuff for fletchings and inserts. Works great.

I use LocTite gel superglue for all my fletching. Have not had any problems with any vanes not sticking, even when the blazers were having issues mine stuck. I been using the fusions for a while now and they will tear the vanes in half before breaking free of the arrow both carbon and aluminum when passing thru a target
