I know my bow doesn't impress anyone with its specs. But it shoots very accurate and is in perfect tune. Anyways.... If anyone cares, I added a few accessories over the last two weeks and thought I would share. Since my wife informed me I have to use this bow for at least one more year before I can get a new one (smart gal as there is nothing wrong with this bow), I decided to put a string suppressor on it. My bow does not have a rear tapped hole and that was my hold up with getting one. Well I decided to grab the bull by the horns and get a front mounted one. Why did I wait so long? No idea. Huge improvement. The second thing I did is to install an Insane Archery camera mount with the optional riser mount kit. Looks and works great. So, my current set-up includes…. Hoyt Powerhawk Spot Hogg Right on sight Trophy Taker X tream FC rest Vapor Trail string and cables G5 meta peep
Looks good, Brad. You may want to think about serving your string where it's gonna make contact with the STS too.
My girlfriend said I could get a new bow but my set up works so I have decided just to add to it. I am thinking about getting a string suppressor on it. I do have the tapped rear hole. Does it help a lot? Also got an Apex sight to put on and am going to restring it and put a new peep sight on as well. I want a new bow but mine is begging me to kill more!!!! I have an '03 Bowtech Extreme VFT and I love how it shoots so why change.
Thanks Bruce/Greg. I don't have a jig so I'll take it in and get that done. I was wondering about that as well about contact. Well, I can tell you from my experience.... absolutely. More improvement than I anticipated. I've shot bows in the shop with them but to have a bow without it and and then have one... Wow! Huge difference.
Brad, no jig needed just some serving material and time. It is good if you have a bow vise or other way to secure the bow with the string up, though. You can serve that small area with doing anything to bow or string. Take a marker and make a small mark on either side of the suppressor so you know where you want serving and go at it.
Like Bruce said you don't need a jig. I rarely use one for small serving jobs even though I have one I always recommend serving the area where the string contacts the suppressor stopper but honestly I have lots of customers that don't and there has never been one problem that I have heard of. Still I think it is cheap insurance and the smart thing to do. The Bow looks Sweet and even more from what you are saying it Shoots Sweet!! I know I am Loving my New bow! Dan
Already done guys but thanks. Went this morning to the shop. Cost me $3.50 and took 10 min which is fine with me since I didn't have to mess with it. So here is the updated product.
Brad Question for ya! In some pictures you have the camera arm set out to the side,in the updated picture you have it to the front. What kind of camera will you be using and where will it be ,to the right or out front? Have you actually shot it with the camera mounted ? Just wondering if with the camera mounted to the right if that will make you torque your bow with the added weight ? Just questioning what your set up is allowing for. Thanks Rocky
When the bow goes in it's case or I don't have a camera put on I will have the camera arm straight out. When I am filming my hunts it will be at a 45 deg angle out I think. I'm using just a basic point and shoot (Canon Power shot). Yes, if I put a camcorder on there I think that could present some issues. But with the small point and shoot no problems. I've shot with it on and it makes no difference. I''m still playing with it but the set-up seems to work very well.
