Hello to everyone out there! I hunt in the southeastern part of VA. and we have had a very wet spring and summer so far this year, and I was woundering how this will affect the acron crop. Does anyone have any feedback on this subject ?
We've had the same weather here, perhaps cooler in Wisconsin. I'm wondering the same thing you are. Last year was a bust for acorns by me with the drought and hot weather. The year before they were abundant. The only thing I can tell right now is that the trees all look healthy. This gives me hope that they will produce decently this year.
Where I'm located its been wet and mild as well. The trees I've checked so far are loaded with them!!Their tiny right now but I'm guessing were gonna have lots and lots of them. Which probably won't be a good thing since the deer won't have to travel very far to get to them making it harder to pinpoint which areas their hitting.
Lots of little ones coming on in my part of KY. Good time to hunt water holes because deer like to get a drink after eating acorns all night and heading back to bed. Also, it really annoys that about mid September and in to October people start wondering/ complaining about all the deer being gone or run off are at because they aren't hitting the corn pile. Seriously, spend a few minutes walking and find a hot stand of white oaks...
