After working on this since October we have finally revived word on our new house! We are buying a short sale home and it has taken forever for the selling bank to process it. They counter offered but it was still a good deal so we accepted it. It will be nice to get out of this tiny 740 sqft trailer and into a house with more room and a garage. Hopefully we can be in the new house by the end of March. It will be nice cause I have hunting and archery crap laying all over the house and I think it bugs the girlfriend.
Ahhh, the joys of home ownership! Congratulations, but you must also realize there is a direct correlation between the square footage of a home and the length of the honeydo list.
Yep but I'm fine with that! It gives me stuff to do on my off days while I'm waiting for her to get home from work.
I feel your pain man. We spent about 3 months living with my parents before the deal on our first house was ready. Then the actual paperwork took about 30 minutes and by the end of it, my hand was killing me from signing so many times.
Yeah, and I experienced severe bowel spasms as I wrote the down payment check for forty five thousand dollars. lol
UPDATE!!!! Well plans arent doing as we thought. When we got word about the house that was only the start of the headache! Lets see if I can make this mess as short as possible. Well the house has bee empty for over 2 years and there is no water or gas service at the moment. We where informed that we needed to get the utilities turned on for the home inspection so we started to contact them to do that and here is where the fun starts. 1. Electricity- Well this one was easy. Its already on. so nothing to do here 2. Gas- Well this was not that bad as we contacted them and they wanted a deposit and then had to send a tech out to install a meter since it was removed long ago. 3. Water- Ok where to start. this is still being worked on but it started by calling the water department and they said they could turn it on for a half hour for the inspector and then after closing we could turn it on permanently. Well the inspector said that would not work cause he needs it on for several hours. So we contacted the water department back and they said we had to put it in our name. with us for sure buying the home we said ok and headed down to city hall to set up service. When we got there they looked up the house and said due to it being empty for over six months we needed a occupancy inspection from the building dept. Well $50 later and the next day we met the building inspector at he home and he did his thing. Thank god the home is in good shape and he only found one minor thing wrong and he didnt write it up he just told me to fix it. He then issued a occupancy permit. Well after lunch we went back to city hall and paid our deposit and filled out all the paper work. When the lady went to schedule the turn on she came back and said they CANT turn on the water! Someone (I.E. the former home owner) owes $750 for the city for mowing the grass. So here we sit waiting for the former home owner that now lives in Guam to pay the city so we can get the water on and do our inspection. Oh and to top off all the stress of the house stuff. During all of this my family found out that my moms doctors are only giving her 2 months to a year to live. She has cancer and it is now in her bones. So needless to say I have been a little stressed and on edge with everything. But on a bright side we got word that we WILL close before April 5th. Sorry for the long post but I just figured I'd update this.
Sorry to hear about your Mom and all the headaches you are going through with the house. Hopefully that will go more smoothly and you can close soon. The city needs to think about the situation some though. They cant expect you to pay for mowing the lawn when you didnt own it. They will start to get paid for taxes and utilities which they arent now, they should make it as easy as possible for you.
Thank you! Yea if it it wasn't for stress right now I don't know what I would do. Stress at work and stress at home and stress finding a new home is all i know right now. It will be wierd if it ever lightens up! Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
