Lack of institutional control and lack of morality are enough for me. They allowed this animal to continue to roam free which ended up allowing him to attack more victims. They are not the monster that committed these acts, but doing nothing about it, they are just as guilty in my opinion.
It isnt college footballs fault . It wasnt Penn States football programs fault. It was the fault of the people running the program . All involved should be held accountable. Sandusky was a sick individual , a predator. he likely was unable to stop himself from the acts he committed. The others that had knowledge were in a position to stop him. They chose to turn the other other cheek and cover it up likely doing so more to protect their reputation more than penn states. Obviously they chose to protect themselves rather than any of the victims. All should be held accountable......dead or alive. Joe Paternos legacy rightly deserves to be tarnished .
No actually the ones that are guilty of covering everything up are no longer with the University. Let the US Justice System deal with them and the NCAA should stay out of it.
I agree with this. I see the lack of institutional control side...but there was not a competitive advantage gained like money, cars etc will get you... You would have to say hey, come to Penn State and if you become a pediphile we will cover it up. Or, Hey if you see an old guy having sex with a minor we will promote you to be quite. Not trying to be funny, but that is what was going on.
The thing a person has to remember is that the money 'made' on men's college BB and FB fund all the other sports. IMO - no money from those two sports = many of the other sports either going away or schools dropping the number of scholarships significantly. I can't explain it but college mens BB and FB provide so much community pride -just don't see those communities rallying around minor league sports the same way... Look at the Jacksonville Jaguars - they never sell out but yet the Gators continually pack their house... Interesting to look at the size of the football stadiums.... The largest 15 stadiums in the US belong to college teams - the Pro teams can't even compete with them... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_football_stadiums_by_capacity
