I hate to see little kids get all tore up but this is a classic, reminds me of a few Bears fans I know http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/sh...lessly-stomps-on-a-little-gir?urn=nfl-wp12027
Actually most people in MN hardly give a chit...they would rather concentrate on important things like hunting and fishing :D
Being born and raised in Illinois just North of Chicago and now living in Minnesota, I've learned something interesting. Apparently, Vikings fans believe there is some sort of rivalry between them and the Packers. I had never heard of this before. I still don't believe it.
weird...seems to be alot of info on the net about something which does not exist? http://onmilwaukee.com/sports/articles/packersvikingshistory100509.html http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mu...y/2005/12/15/gallery.oldrivals/content.4.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Packers–Vikings_rivalry "When you switch to the Vikings, that's the one team you hate and hate's a strong word," Leroy Butler told the paper. "That's the one thing you dislike. You enjoy beating the Bears, it's a great rivalry. But when you play the Vikings -- Hatfield and McCoys -- that's how it is. All the rules go out. You have to beat them. It's a must-win game. You can live with splitting with Chicago. You can't live and you can't sleep losing to the Vikings."
If I was to look at it in a relative perspective, the Packers-Vikings rivalry does not exist when compared to the Bears-Packers rivalry. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/mu...y/2005/12/15/gallery.oldrivals/content.9.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bears–Packers_rivalry http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/19/sports/football/19rivalry.html?pagewanted=all If anything, I'd believe a Vikings-Lions rivalry more than anything. Rivalries are supposed to be about two teams who when they meet up, regardless of their talent or standing, play some of the hardest football and the outcome of the game is almost always a toss-up. I'll agree that there is some sort of thing going on between those two teams, but it just doesn't compare to the Bears-Packers. No op-ed piece is going to change my opinion of that.
I agree with the statement above 100%. The Viking/Packer rivalry has been one of the most closely contested rivalry's in the NFL by both record and also the narrow margins of most of the games. The Vikings/Lions MORE of a rivalry....really? Now you are just talking garbage. The Vikings have won 18 division titles. The Lions have won 3. Bears/Packers have each won 10. The Vikings lead head to head with Lions 66-32. I have two brother in-laws from Wisconsin...try telling them the Packer/Vikings games aren't a big deal to them.
Vikings: 1 NFL Championship. Lions: 4 NFL Championships Bears: 8 NFL Championships and 1 Super Bowl Packers: 9 NFL Championships and 4 Super Bowls Vikings-Packers: Packers lead 53-48-1 Bears-Packers: Bears lead 92-85-6 Twice as many games played by the Bears, Packers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnesota_Vikings "Rivals: Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers" If I listen to the internet every team in the NFC North has a rivalry with every other team in the NFC North. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lions–Vikings_rivalry "However, the Detroit Lions have given the Minnesota Vikings, a usual contender for the NFL playoffs, many surprisingly close games over the years. As a result, the Lions have given the Vikings more trouble than they have to the other NFC North powers, the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers. Although this rivalry isn't on the level of the Packers–Vikings, the Bears–Packers, or the Bears–Vikings rivalries, it is still important to both these teams, due to the implications of division games and the fact that they meet twice each year."
You say you now live in MN but if you believe that the Vikings-Lions is more of a rivalry than Vikes-Packers, then you must have just moved here yesterday.
I'm not saying that there is a Vikings-Lions rivalry, I'm saying that even after living here for two years, I think the Vikes-Packers rivalry is more of a rivalry to Vikings fans than it is Packers fans. I know Packers fans that live in Minnesota (were born and raised here too) that don't think there's a rivalry. The Bears-Packers rivalry goes back to the beginning of professional football, the Vikings-Packers only since the 1960s. There's 40 years of tradition there that you'll never get between the Vikings and Packers.
only time when the packers/vikes rivalry was any good was back in '09 & '10 when favre was playing in minnesota. this year, nobody cares because the vikes suck right now
