Thanks for all the well wishes guys. I have never been allergic to bee's but with enough stings anyone can go in to anaphylactic shock. That means it can get all of us. I'm home but BP is still low and pulse still high. I should recover by the weekend. But it's no joke guys. Be careful.

both my hunting partners have developed allergies to stings in the past couple years. My cousin got whacked by a hornet and went into full-on shock and almost died. He's a former roofer who had been stung by his estimate 100s of times without any issues. Now he can't go anywhere without an epi pen.

My other buddy got hit by a yellow jacket or hornet last year up at deer camp by himself while doing some late summer foodplot work. He blacked out and fell flat on his face. When he came to he was out of it for a few hours - without anyone to help and no cell service.

I had always blown off my wife's concern about us being up there with no cell service but now I get it. Don't know what to do about the risk other than carry some benadryl and to make sure people know where you are in case SHTF but you know how it is. You plan to hunt one spot and then the next thing you know you are climbing up a tree a mile from that spot and come face to face with a hornet's nest and that's that.

Life is not without risk, boys and girls.

I was grabbing hay and there was a hive between the bales. I received a bunch of hits( I'm not allergic) I walked to the house and put ice on my neck and face and within 3 mins I collapsed. By the time the EMT arrived it was very close to being over.

That sucks, hope both of them recover without complications.
I went to check an old two man ladder I put out years ago just yesterday. The stand seemed fine but the straps on the seat portion were both rotten and already broken or chewed through. Those things can certainly be dangerous. Replace your stand straps every year or better yet take the stands down and store them properly and re-deploy them before season. Be careful out there folks.

Happy to hear both of you are on the mend. People think I am crazy but I use life lines in my ladder stands, can never be too safe and honestly they are no intrusive at all.

Glad to read you're on the mend!

Glad you're on the mend, too! Same thing happened to me two years ago. Never allergic before - but being stung so many times I became allergic. Doctor now makes me have an epi as a "just in case". Don't know if I am still allergic or if it was a one time thing.

    Hahahahaha!

Guys, the Paramedic who is a hunter looked at the accident scene and said there is no way I should have lived, let alone walked 30 yards to a fallen tree to sit

Got home Tuesday and without meds, I do t know what I’d have done... but I am the guy that will not take anything if I can avoid it... but at the end and beginning of the day I have taken an oxycodone so I can sleep .... I’m hoping to be ok for gun season in 4 weeks... but I’m am starting to doubt it... thanks to all that have text me and keep tabs... y’all are the best!
