Whats cool? Taking an unethical shot? Being a poor example for your son? Endangering your sons health? Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2
Don't slam the guy ferg. :D If you were new to hunting like I think Brown is you would probably think it was cool too.
I'm just going to play devil's advocate here. Why are we condemning the father here? We don't know exactly how he was brought up. His father may have taken him up a rickety ol tree stand and had him shoot at anything that walked by completely unaware of the situation. Now I'm not saying it was right at all to take a shot like that, but good on the dad for trying to get his kids into something that is going to keep them from getting into trouble. we can only hope that someone who knows the family, seen the video, and informed them that it was not an ethical shot to take and they learn from that experience.
So ud stick your kid up in a rickety old stand with no safety harness and say ehh....I did it when I was a kid....hell be fine...thats just lack of common sense if you answer yes to that....thats like this dad saying....in a few years of course.....well son back in the 60s and 70s noone used a condom and everything turned out alright so go out there and have fun.....stupid....the shot issue is just common sense as well.....everyone who is involved with any kind of firearm or hunting certification has been told "know your target and beyond" Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
I agree that it is awesome for them to be out in the woods together instead of playing video games in front of the tv. And the little prayer after the shot was nice and I am sure it is a reflection of his upbringing so I could only assume his father had something to do with it which is great! We are only responding to this one situation in the lives of these two and if you go to the youtube page you will read countless posts celebrating the accomplishment. Clearly as I pointed out it is not something to celebrate and the entire situation was the outcome of the fathers decisions. In an earlier post on this thread I congratulated the kid on a great shot but let's not loose site of what happned. As I stated the dad put the kid in a dangerous situation. The dad had the kid take an unethical shot. And I think think this is a video that clearly shows what not to do.
I'm with you fellas. Like i said I was playing devil's advocate, but there is no sense in carrying on because it was absolutely with out a doubt the wrong thing to do for a number of reasons. There are better threads to play devil's advocate and when it comes to safety and ethics, it's nothing to joke about. I should have realized.
Tom its all good and I understand that everyne views things differently. Without different perspectives forums like these would be extremely boring! Sent from my BNTV600 using Tapatalk 4
So just out of curiosity, why are we assuming the stand is rickety? The camera only dips down to show the stand for a second or so. You can't really tell how sturdy it is. Hell, I hunted out of home built stands the whole time I was growing up. Some of the DIY stands on the property back home have probably seen 15+ years of use, and the trees would fall down before the stands would. Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using Tapatalk 2
