Not trying to get into it here but if I was that boys father he would not have been given the "go ahead shoot" until that doe stepped away from the others....wounded that second deer for no reason Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
I've seen this video before and this is exactly how I feel. His dad should have never let him take that shot IMO.
Good dad for taking his son out. The prayer giving thanks was nice too, as was the recovery of the second deer. Bad dad for letting his son shoot at stacked up deer. Basic hunting ethics 101.
First rule of shooting be it a bow, rifle, or handgun is always be aware of your backstop. It's great that they recovered both deer, but this seems very irresponsible to me. Again, this is only my opinion. They are lucky that the pass-through made a decent hit on the second deer. As we all know, it is our responsibility to make clean, ethical kills.
The kid drilled it. The Father was very lucky that the second deer was a lethal shot. I've passed on shots like that before. But on the Dads side he probably didn't think the kid would get a pass through, based on the way the shot looked to me it seem to go right through, not hitting any ribs. Anyway I was just going through YouTube, and saw this so I thought I would share it.
I have a few issues with it. First off the stand they were using was a wooden homemade platform which I would never put my kid on. Secondly the kid had no safety harness on so a bad stand and no harness on a 12 year old I think is pretty irresponsible. The kid nailed the shot and I congratulate him but I totally agree that it was a terrible shot to take and as a father and hunting mentor it is the dads resposibility to teach ethics and he failed!
Great shot by the kid but yup...shame on the dad for letting him shoot when they were stacked up, shame on the dad for not having his kid wearing a harness in that raggedy wooden platform stand.
I agree with everyone else. As the father he should have never let the kid that that shot, the deer's would have separated and that is when the shot should have been taken.
Really irresponsible on the dads part. And even if he thought it wouldn't pass through he should have expected the worst case scenario. But Themis did. Great job of deciding to back of and wait, and he made a great shot. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
That's a pretty incredible stroke of luck. I REALLY hope they look at this as a case of good fortune despite poor practices. I'd hate to see this kid try to recreate this shot on another bait pile full of stacked up deer. I seriously doubt he could do it again intentionally. On the other hand, great shot on the deer he intended to take. Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using Tapatalk 2
Props to actually tracking down the second doe as many people would of went home with their one deer and left the other behind...
Bad dad.. whats the firts rule of shooting anything, gun or bow? look beyond your target... in my opinion that deer was to young to be havested. Bad call for the go ahead shot. the Prayer was good though. good to see some are still bein tought the good ole American way!
