I spent countless hours on 2 different ventures this past year............finding and buying our dream home on 25 acres of good hunting land..........and reloading my own ammo. They both came together the last week of NY gun season as a big doe strolled into an open lane 125 yards from my stand. As I pulled the trigger the red dot of the VX-R turned to a puff of hair and a ton of hard work and years of effort all came crashing together. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't an emotional rollercoaster.

A goal set in my mind and heart 15 years ago as I entered college to better my life was now laying accomplished in front of me in the NY snow. Something about taking a deer off YOUR land that is hard to describe. Doing it with a bullet I made from scratch made it all the more special.

2011 is going to be tough to beat.

49 grains of IMR 4064 pushing 150 gr Nosler Accubond out of fresh Nosler brass and a Remington 9 1/2 larger rifle primer

Only pic I got at the house as I had to load her up and head to the cabin that night.

Here she is ready for processing at the cabin.

Congrats! I would love to own my own hunting land in the future.

Looks like your bullet configuration does the trick!

Hey Atlas... what part of the state do you live in? Northern or Southern Tier? Nearest town or landmark???? I thought you were out near Rochester or Buffalo?

Between Rochester and Buffalo. We don't really have much for landmarks around here so I guess Darien Lake amusement park is something you may be able to find on a map.

I have to try the heart some day. We feed them to our dogs now but lots of people tell me it is a fantastic dish.
