I was just thinking how the Pennsylvania archery season is fast approaching, and weather I'd be happy killing a nice buck during the first days, or even weeks of the season? For me, I think it would be a bittersweet situation. I love the thought of killing a nice buck (I won't shoot a doe), but doing that so early in the season would have me sitting around saying, "I wish I were still able to hunt", especially with the rut still several weeks away. We all know the rut is THE most exciting time to be in the woods. I'm curious to hear what others think about early season success. Would you let a good buck pass early on, so you could continue to hunt, and hopefully get a shot at an even bigger buck, or would you capitalize on that early season opportunity?
I would never pass a buck that i would normally shoot later. I enjoy getting it done as soon as possible. Opening day buck is always what i strive for. You're so close to me. You can just come down to Maryland and hunt here with me. Tags are fairly inexpensive, and you're retired, so plenty of time. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
My personal experience tells me to shoot when the opportunity arises. I am not passing a good buck during any part of the season.
