Stopped by one of the local State Parks and noticed this sign... I rarely ever carry.. Like next to never but this kind of surprised me. It is illegal to carry in an open air area of State Property that our tax dollars pay for? Is it like this where you live?
The sign doesn't say that you cant carry a unloaded concealed weapon and just put the clip in your othe pocket. Do you guys have open carry? Thankfully i live in the great state of WV. We are a gun loving state.
I know where I'm from you can carry openly in a retail store with a firearm on your belt with everyone to see and you can carry concealed in a store as long as you have a license for it. I've never seen a prohibited concealed carry sign anywhere where I'm at probably because they feel people down here wouldn't pay attention to em anyhow lol.
It's difficult to get a unrestricted carry permit in NY, but once you have one you can carry just about anywhere except the 5 boroughs around NYC. Other than that, the only places I've ever seen you can't are the obvious places like court houses, etc.
Illinois is running out of time and I hope they do, June 9th to be exact. You can carry at free will if they do not pass anything by then. So, I am told..... I am thinking about renting a tank and strapping on a rocket launcher to go get groceries.
That is interesting buckeye. Selective allowance of state laws on state property. And to top it all off, more than likely 80% of the park was paid for by sportsmen.
In Wisconsin I stopped at a rest area along the interstate and the was a no carry sign there. I would assume that the rest area is state owned and they choose to opt out of the law like some private business's. I Found this for Ohio Forbidden Carry Zones The law sets forth several places where your license does not allow you to carry a handgun. Under the law, you may not carry a concealed handgun into the following places: • Police stations • Sheriffs’ offices • Highway Patrol posts • Premises controlled by BCI • Correctional institutions or other detention facilities • Airport terminals or airplanes • Facilities for the care of mentally ill persons • Courthouses or buildings in which a courtroom is located • Universities, unless locked in a motor vehicle or in the process of being locked in a motor vehicle • Places of worship, unless the place of worship permits otherwise • Child day-care centers • Licensed Class D liquor permit premises if you are consuming beer or intoxicating liquor or are under the influence. If you are not consuming, you may carry unless there is a conspicuous sign prohibiting carry. Possession of a concealed firearm is allowed in a retail store with a D-6 or D-8 permit as long as the concealed carry license holder is not consuming liquor. Class D permits are generally issued to an establishment that sells alcohol for consumption on the premises. In any event, do not consume beer or intoxicating liquor before carrying a concealed handgun into a licensed premises. • Government facilities that are not used primarily as a shelter, restroom, parking facility for motor vehicles, or rest facility and are not a courthouse or a building or structure in which a courtroom is located • School safety zones A “school safety zone” includes a school, school building, school premises, school activity, and school bus. For purposes of this statute, a school includes everything up to the property boundary.
