Well, after finally taking my Reconyx down on Monday, I decided to see just how many photo's I had captured since the summer when I put new batteries in my camera and give a little run down on how it performed. *First set-up was on June 21st, 2009 and was out until December 21st, 2009. *Camera took 6,463 photo's during it's time set-up on one set of batteries *Batteries are still at 18% full *Recorded temp.'s from 102 degrees on June 25th to 14 degrees on Dec. 7th. I just can't say enough about this camera and how it performs. After looking through some photo's this year, I found that I did have 3 photo's of the buck I killed back in Nov. January 5th, 2009 I killed my 2008/2009 buck which I also captured photo's of with my Reconyx. I will be putting some new batteries in the cam this week and will be setting it back up to hopefully get some predator photo's... there are several coyotoes and bobcats running around and I really want some pics of them:D
hey buck magnet do u ever hunt the gamelands about 10 minutes east of the kiski prep school mostly bird hunti ng but if so i can tell u theres a monster running around out there and maybe we can hunt together sometime if u like since u live close ur more then welcome to come hunt with me im from the plum monroeville area
I'd really like to have a few of these, I just can't seem to bust out the cash. I have heard nothing but good things, but for what I need to do, my upgrade will likely be a few D40s.
No doubt Ben they are expensive, too expensive!! You'll never miss a deer though, never. Still doesn't mean they gotta be the price they are though. In saying that I'll be buying another one here shortly, I have the RC60 and love It!!!
Caleb, I'll post new photo's as they come... the most recent bunch is the same bucks that I have been posting with a few doe, squirrels, and a lady walking 4 dogs thrown in. bh1988, I havn't ever hunted that area, most of the public land hunting that I have done has been around Yellow Creek Lake and Two Lick Resivour. Hopefully this fall we could meet up and do some hunting Ben, they are definetly pricey and as Steve said, they aren't truly worth the money.... with that said, they are the only camera that performs to my expectations. I can put the camera out and KNOW that I am going to get pictures everytime something passes by and that the batteries aren't going to be dead on every trip out. My main reason for getting the camera is that I not only want it for a hobby and inventory of the animals, but I wanted a camera that I can set-up in hunting situations to be my eyes when I'm not there... no other camera would do this as well as the Reconyx. I have been thinking about getting another camera this spring, I originally was thinking about the Cuddeback Capture, but I may just grab another Reconyx and stick with the two of them for good.
Buck Magnet, I know exactly what you mean. There is just nothing out there like the Reconyx. I know they are pricey and I wish they weren't but in this situation you definately get what you pay for. I own five different brands of cameras and the Reconyx is the only one that comes close to everything I want a camera to do. If I could change anything about it, I wish they made it in a white-flash model as I prefer color night-time pics. I am also not completely satisfied with the IR pics but I looked on their website and they recommend using either recharchable or lithium batteries. As a matter of fact, they discourage the use of alkalines. Blessings.....Pastorjim
