Crossing the line from "belief" to "faith" is an awesome experience. Lots of folks believe. They believe in God and they pray and hope they get an answer.

Fewer have real faith, the kind of faith that tells you when you pray you WILL receive an answer, even though it may not always be the answer you want. It's the kind of faith that will let you finally let God have control and you KNOW He will guide you, help you, provide answers for you and sometimes scold you a bit. That's what every good Father does.

Welcome to the Brotherhood. Your life will never be the same...it will be better, even if things don't always go the way you thought they might.

Joe, I'm going to join in the prayers for you and your family. I can totally related to your story because the same thing happened about 6-1/2 years ago with my Grandma and her battle with cancer. They found the cancer and she refused treatment, saying "I always knew I was going to get the cancer". The one thing she was super excited for was knowing what her next grandchild (my first son) was going to be. We told her and she declined, hard. I remember praying for her to hold on until Isaac was born, until we went to see her one night with all my cousins (very rare occasion that we are all together) and I said the same prayer that you did that night. The next morning I got that same phone call from my dad.

You can't "undo" the sins, but please know, God's forgiveness is available to you, not because of anything you or anyone else has done to deserve it, but because God loves you even when you sin.

Just remember, death is only hard for the living. Rejoyce in the belief that you grandmother was just led hand in hand to the arms of her lover by our lord and savior Jesus Christ. While death is hard to swallow, I smile when I think about that scene playing out. Your grandfather is one happy man up there now

    We're sorry for your loss.

But please remember that life doesn't end just because one has gone to the other side.

She may not be here, but she isn't gone.

Joe, that put tears in my eyes. I saw your post on Facebook but I didn't know the extent of the details about the situation or your prayer. The good thing about God is, even when we turn our back on Him, he's always there for us. It's through the tough times he pulls us up. I think it goes without saying, we're all here for you brother!

Thank you so much everyone for the overwhelming support!!
The wake is tonight, and the funeral is tomorrow.
I've been praying every morning, and evening, and even today through a miserable day at work I smiled and looked up and said,,,"I know this is just another challenge you have handed me that you know we can do together..."
I've been doing a little research looking at a few local churches. I've even talked to my wife about it, and she said she would go with me. My wife is the most generous giving person I've ever known, and I know she would be amazing in the church community.
Thank you again everyone, this forum is an amazing place and I'm thankful for being a member!

I am in tears in class, I am thrilled that the Lord has touched you in such a way, even despite the circumstances. Loss is hard, life in general is hard but If you truly accept him, youll be up there too, this I am sure of. You and your family will be in my prayers, the second and third best books I have ever been given other than my bible are by the same author called ¨A look at life from a deerstand, and With God on a deer hunt. God is good all the time, even when we dont realize it. I am here for you anytime.

Been there recently two months ago. I am familiar with the emotional upheaval. None of us can put someone else's pain into words, but yes God does make Himself known through such events. “Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”

    ― C.S. Lewis

May God continue to bless you all according to His good and perfect plan and will. May He hold you through your pain and give you shelter through this storm.

    Geoff

    CRYING...
Welcome to 'Faith' Joe... so sad to read about your loss (as stated on FB the other day... just saw this thread a few moments ago). Any time you want to talk... let me know. I'll share my experiences (similar to yours) about my prayers and the loss of our son. Perhaps we can both 'grow' in the experience.

After losing our son I became TOTALLY enthralled in the message stated in my signature... Matthew 21:22. I KNOW GOD answers prayer!

    Take care and God Bless.
