The only one I listened to much from that list was Nirvana.

About a year ago, when Sirius had the ACDC channel, my brother and I were driving home from a hunting trip in Alberta and that was the only station he wanted to listen to. I damn near put needles in my ear drums so I didn't have to listen to it!

For some reason I have never liked ACDC or Van Halen. Don't know why....just don't. I used to listen to some Metallica, but mostly Bush, Pearl Jam, STP and the like. I'm 33 and was fortunate to grow up during dawn of alternative.

I've also listened to my share of country.....modern country. My dad was one of the founders of a large country music festival back in the early 90's here in WI that still runs every year and draws a huge crowd. Kinda grew on me being around it. Don't tell Scott, but Kenny Chesney is playing in the background now.;)

I love Nirvana too, really they are one of the bands that I remember most from my adolescence, certainly one of the most influential of my generation. I have a ton of Nirvana on my iPhone.

With that said, as musicians they aren't nearly as talented as Metallica. I'd say that Led Zeppelin is just as, if not more talented than Metallica........however they were a bit before my time, I didn't come to really appreciate Zeppelin until I was late in highschool and in college.

Man I love PJ and STP, but I really still despise Bush. Don't know why, but they always seemed like a bunch of "posers" (:D) to me.

Dan and I have the same taste in music. :) I don't think you can make a list of great bands w/o mentioning The Eagles or the Stones....possibly even Aerosmith. Of those listed, I'd probably take GNR. Metallica does nothing for me.

I like them all except the Beatles. Other than that, I can't choose between them. They're all legends.

As great as some of the bands on the list are... I would have to say IMO... Alice In Chains is the best band ever... amazing vocals, great lyrics, ect..... not to mention that they were the true inventers of the "Seattle Grunge" sound.

Yea, your right.... they are better than Nirvana;):D I like Nirvana, but alot of the music that they were credited for wasn't actually their music.. it belonged to a few unknown bands... my biggest gripe is the people who say that "Nirvana started grunge rock".... far from the truth... even worse yet is the people who swear that Green Day took grunge to a "new level"

Nirvana did the best thing it could do for Grunge. It popularized it.

Smells Like Teen Spirit is the greatest song ever and ill ninja kick you if you say otherwise ;)

Nirvana did do alot of covers, of course, but Nevermind was genuinely one of the greatest albums ever released in music history.
