CHICAGO (AP) -- An animal rights group wants Illinois to install highway signs in memory of cattle killed when trucks hauling them flipped in two separate wrecks. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has asked for permission to buy the markers, one in suburban Chicago and one northwest of Peoria. The group says the signs would pay tribute to the more than 20 cattle killed as a result of negligent driving this year. Illinois Department of Transportation spokesman Josh Kauffman says the request will likely be denied because the state's Roadside Memorial Act specifies that only relatives who lost loved ones in highway crashes may request memorials. In 2006, Virginia rejected PETA's request for highway markers to memorialize hogs killed in crashes on their way to slaughter at Smithfield Foods.
Although I don't agree with it, I don't feel it's a big "blow" to us. The way I see it; Let them spend their money on signs for dead cows vs. spending their money on shutting us down.
My friend commented on this... he said a fitting memorial would be to open a burger stand in those locations. :D
Yeah, I like how your friend thinks. Maybe even a shoe store and a football factory.:p Brad, all of their crap is low. I do believe that the comic book showing the painfully and bloody hooked fish is lower than this. They attempted to turn children against their parents. Nothing could be lower than that.
I raise a cold glass of milk in honor of those whose nipples have been tormented for my sipping pleasure...perhaps I should start PETN (People for Ethical Treatment of Nipples)....and hang signs and.....yeah just as stupid.
It's a bugger when we always seem to be on the defense vs taking it to them. That would be interesting, seeing how they react to be the ones attacked. Maybe the masses would see them for the nutwads they are.
Too bad the trucks weren't hauling mules or jackasses. Then PETA could say they were relatives and put up a PETA *** sign. Hell, I'll even model for the sign and show PETA my butt, full moon.
