An inside corner promotes travel from point (A) to point (B). They can do this in three different ways...#1 by providing security (cover) from point (A) to point (B)....Or, by forcing movement (structure) from point (A) to point (B)....Or, by offering the easiest (topography) from point (A) to point (B). This is a "traditional" cover related inside corner. I killed my first deer with a bow in this location 28 years ago. This one would be cover and/or structure related. A couple that could be considered structure related...lake and a rock quarry. And thinking a little outside the box. This one is topography related...this a very good spot that I've hunted many times over the year's.
50% of my stand sites are like that, and the other 50% are some other form of bottleneck, albeit maybe not so obvious. I don't have time to sit randomly in the woods. If a property does not have a travel bottleneck, I don't waste my time.

Great post. I have found that the inside corners that are topography related or possibly topography and aerial related trump simply flat inside corners. Good stuff
From my experience, no set distance...could be right off the corner 10 yards or so, could 50-75 yards.
Now diving in a little deeper. One of the really cool things about cover, terrain, structure...edges...is that they can all come together and play on one another. Often times when this happens you end up with a spot that may produce year after year. This is one of those spots. Now you could say that this is an inside corner created by the terrain and the field edge and you would be correct. You could also say that it's an inside corner created by the river and the field edge...and that would also be correct. You could also say that the terrain, field , river, clear cut combined all create a pinch point, which in turn creates a nice river crossing, that connects multiple net works....creating a social hub. And you would be 100% correct. There is a large community scrape just on the west side of the river that's been there every year for 16 years now.
Thanks good post it’s nice to do a little classroom brush up every once in awhile Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I love inside corners. I hunt one that lies between a swamp and an ag field which kind of makes it a funnel as well. Blessings..........Pastorjim
