Definitely the dominate deer in that area. just wanting to push that little guy on out so he could have the camera all to himself?
Makes you wish it was November! The Vemeronasal organ or Jacobsen organ is believed to be used by deer to analyze urine. It's almost like another nose in a sense. Most believe they use it for other purposes than just trying to find susceptible does. Maybe he was trying to figure out if she was eating his minerals from the sight! Great looking deer!
Great sequence Greg. From what i understand, a buck is always able to breed, anytime of the year. Does are just in estrus in a small window during the rut...is this correct? Maybe he smelled a little something he thought was interesting
Dr. James Kroll discussed this in one of his articles (I don't recall when it came out) and said a buck is capable of breeding anytime after his velvet is rubbed off until he sheds his horns. Personally, I don't think it's early... I've been chasing the wife around the house all summer. :D
