I was going to add this to the snipping thread but it was closed. Hope this gets through.

I'm having a tubal ligation soon for medical reasons. It is no longer major surgery. They have new techniques and equipment and can do it on an outpatient basis.

My husband is willing to have a vasectomy, but I don't want him to do that.

What I HAVE to do is not have any more babies. I have a condition that places me and my baby at risk. It would be even worse if the baby were average size instead of in conformance to my size. (I'm very small.)

And it is no longer much easier for a man. The procedure is very quick, done under local if I wish. (general anesthesia is an option, but I'm opting out.) I'll be in the hospital 2-4 hours for recovery, less with the local, and then home. I'll have to take it easy for three or four days, and then back to normal. I won't even miss a feeding. (I'm still nursing Michelle.)

They make a tiny incision, about an inch, go in with a scope and a soldering iron, and singe each tube, close the incision and let you lay around for awhile just to make sure you're okay. If you have it done with a local, you're home in a couple of hours.

Honorable Husband had an umbilical hernia repaired and it was more surgery than this. It was done outpatient, under local and home the same afternoon. His was more surgery than mine will be.

And I just wanted to add in the other thread that if BC has been pulling out or wearing a rubber his entire life (sans the years he wanted kids), I now know why he is always so miserable.

    Carry on :)

Me, miserable? Wow, I have been saddled with many things, but most never say miserable. Pretty cool.

Really the pull out method is not that difficult. Maybe for those who last 3min. I mean the hedgehog never appears sad when he does it. Maybe you married the wrong woman? I can now see why you need to drink so much

You're right, it's not difficult. It just gets old very fast.

How does me not wanting to pull out for the rest of my life equate to me marrying the wrong woman?

I hate locked threads. This is what the internet is for, IMO. Random strangers anonymously expressing their opinions and views while taking cheap shots at one another. It is what makes the internet great.
