I played a little hookey from school this past week to get some hunting done and take a few days off :D. My first order of business when I arrived at home was to check my trail camera.

As I scanned the the SDcard for pics, I found this. Suddenly I had a pretty big incintive to get in the stand. This is the buck I deemed the "Birthday Buck" earlier in the year because he got caught on cam on my birthday, and he is my main target for this fall.

Wednesday morning found me in the stand watching the infinate doe train. I counted 19 does and 3 small bucks. But with nothing but antlers on my mind, I simply watched all morning.

The next few hunts were alot of the same. I saw a handful of does and a small buck here and there each time I went out. When Friday came I decided it was nanny whackin' time. But, the moment I decide to shoot a doe, I don't get a shot opportunity :(. That's bowhunting though.

Friday afternoon I decided I wasn't satisfied with my current set up, so I grabbed my Muddy stand and LW sticks and walked into a part of my hunting area I have pretty much never seen. It is some pretty thick timber along a plowed field that honestly doesn't look very promising from afar. But as I began to explore the area, it started looking better and better. I found a pretty heavily used trail crossing and threw up my stand in the nearest tree. About 1 1/2 later this lone doe came by and she recieved my Hellrazor.

I'm pretty impressed with these broadheads. My arrow went through the deer, through this stick, and into the ground.

On Saturday morning I decided to give it one last shot at a buck. I was offered a chance at around 8:15 when I noticed a shooter buck making his way toward me. It was one of the better bucks I have on camera this year, probably a 110"-115" buck. I knew the trail he was walking would never get any closer than 40 yards away from me, so I looked for the closest opening he would pass through and got ready for the shot. He stepped into the opening and I took the shot. When my arrow was about half way there, it caught a small twig and deflected my arrow. It stuck in the ground right between his legs

Oh well, I had a great weekend and got in some good hunting.

Oh, and just for Buckeye........the secret to my sucess

    Playa Boots

    Great post Will,

Congrats on the doe, and nice boots...

Now about this buck, first off, you think 115" is enough to beat me in this contest? and secondly, no "i just &^()^^#@_ missed!" text? Weak.

No, I did it the old fashioned way. I might try it next time though. I heard it's really simple.
